This would be a fun fight to watch. I just don't think Cobb has enough to keep Copper off of him. Smokin' Bert Cooper wins by decision.

Cobb stood up to stronger hitters than Cooper, so I don't think Coop would knock out Cobb, but Cobb was such a messy, inaccurate fighter with subpar stamina from time to time. Coop was the stronger of the two and a soundly skilled pugilist. Cooper UD. I won't rule out rocky moments for Coop though.

Cobb was crude but a true contender. Cooper's best win was Joe Hipp. Cobb for me.

Tex Cobb probably outlasts Cooper. Alot of action but Bert wasn't known for his stamina or condition.

That's true. Although he did put that great performance in against Ray Mercer.
Actually surprised me in that, did Bert.

A bit of a gruelling, clash. I actually like a decision, with Tex just getting the nod.

Yea that was probably his best fight though he did lose.

At their bests, Cooper wins. The Bert Cooper that lost to Mercer beats any version of Tex Cobb.

Cooper lost pretty much every round to Mercer though, I never like judging a fighter in H2H match ups based on losses.

For me Cobb could take Coopers punches easily and wear him down.

Did you watch that fight? It was very close. The judges were extremely biased to keep the undefeated Gold Medal winner from losing. Cooper broke Mercer's jaw, and showed excellent conditioning in that fight. It was a hell of a fight.

It wasn't a close fight one judge scored it the same as me, which was pretty spot on IMO. The other two judges were a bit too wide but overall Mercer won it pretty wide, it was a competitive fight for sure. But regarding how many rounds Cooper actually won it wasn't close this was my write up of it.

    Ray Mercer vs Bert Cooper

    1 Mercer 10-8 knockdown
    2 Cooper
    3 Mercer
    4 Mercer
    5 Mercer
    6 Cooper
    7 Mercer
    8 Mercer
    9 Cooper
    10 Mercer
    11 Mercer
    12 Mercer

    117-110 Mercer

A good old fashioned Heavyweight slugfest, Mercer's jaw i believe was broken in the 1st round from a Cooper uppercut, and by the end it looked grotesque. Cooper was down in the 1st round aswell from a great right hand from Mercer, and was rocked a few other times later on in the fight, but Cooper seemed to take the punches better once he warmed up.

Despite my wide scorecard Cooper was very much in this fight the entire way, the problem was Mercer would walk him down and smother Cooper's work. I also think this was a ploy from Mercer to protect his broken jaw which was smart, as Cooper would only throw his bombs when he room to punch. But in most of the close rounds Mercer would edge them with a big flurry of punches, and just outhustle Cooper in a majority of the rounds.

Overall an exciting fight to watch and alot of heart shown from both fighters.

Cobb weatheres the early storm and stops Cooper in 9.

I think it’s possible Cooper just gasses out in the process of winning every round. Tex might do what the public consider the rope-a-dope.
