It's not G I'm worried about. Everyone going on like Canelo needed a tune up fight after losing and saying he'll be low on confidence. I like the fight. But one guy coming off a loss against another guy who's 40 isn't quite the blockbuster it once was.
If GGG doesn't come out like Hagler then Its a point decision for Ginger Mouse. GGG needs to throw the sink at the mouse and crush him.
GGG needs to go full blast and attack immediately. Canelo can be reset (quite easily) if you give him lots of movement and angles. Bivol proved that.
GGG likes blocking shots with his head. But doesn't get knocked out thanks to his iron chin. I think he will lose again by decision.
Getting there! Keys to victory for GGG:- + Work the body - Bivol worked the straight jab to the chest very well and helped both reset Canelo and deplete his stamina + Frustrate Canelo as much as possible, which means being a bit more defensively responsible; Canelo's IQ and decision making seems to reduce the more frustrated he gets + Contrary to what others have been suggesting, I don't think just seeking for a KO and blowing his load is the right strategy. Bivol showed a blueprint of how to time Canelo with counters, making him reset and punishing him with combinations. Whilst GGG doesn't have the legs to execute that strategy verbatim, there are elements he should be looking at closely. Some of the above is also contingent on whether Canelo has the same strategy in terms of loadiong up on power shots to the arms/body or whether he adopts a more refined / skill oriented approach for GGG. The downside for GGG is his footwork has obviously declined, and his defense - which was never the best - has declined even more markedly, with Murata hitting him too often. Of course GGG has a titanium chin, but as we saw before Canelo will take rounds with flashy scoring power shots, regardless of how accurate and often GGGs jab is IMO, GGGs best route to victory is to frustrate Canelo, keep him at the end of a great jab as much as possible, cause him to reset often, and try and capitalize to the body when Canelo's stamina drops. But with GGG @40 that's going to be a tall order to execute
Boxing events at the movie theater is not the same as a movie. You don't sit there in silence or lower your volume. You can speak and talk all you want and cheer and clap.
The closer we get to this fight, the more excited I get. Both fighters are training hard, there is legacy at stake. Golovkin recently told Teddy Atlas he expects a knockout to happen in this fight, he is going to bring the Kazak Thunder!
Totally on board and excited for it. I think a lot of people are still sleeping on GGG's chances, he could very well be a live underdog that still has it in him to give Canelo absolute hell. Both guys are just made for each other stylistically. It'll definitely shake the boxing world if GGG manages to pull off a similar victor as JMM KOing Pac in the 4th fight. I'm hoping this fight will deliver and potentially be a brutal affair.
