I'd make it the 199 Division,,,,,at least thats something people would remember. Does anybody really follow this 'faceless' division.
Depends on how many "good" big men operate in the HW division. If the Klitschko's were to retire now, would the head honcho of the HW division be similar of stature to the Klits, or would he be as big as somebody like Holyfield?
It doesn't matter whether the HW division is any good or not. It isn't the fault of CW-sized fighters if the 250lb guys suck. There should be a division in between LHW and unlimited, bottom line.
187lbs i think it should be or 190 again. because it cuts most of the fit strong cruisers out of the heavyweight picture. it gives lights heavy's a division to use without being swamped by much bigger guys and allows for heavyweights who could drain to get there to refill the heavies again. people forget that it isn't about the best it's also about the top 50 under top15's who give the division it's depth. you can have some great fighters at the top but if there is no regional fights that are stacked then it loses credibility.
Better moves would be 12-14lbs difference minimum per weight class, and NO such thing as a catchweight fight, this is a professional sport not a make it up as you go along. Gone are the days when guys can't afford to eat or don't know what to do to put on 5 lbs without being fat. 100? 110 122 135 147 160 175 190 205+ What is wrong with that.
i dont mind the amount of divisions. it also helps get fight to fight in between and sort of gives the divisions on either side some talking space. but the problem is mostly because by moving up and down in weights you are penalised and have to be re-ranked. verquan kimbrough vs monte meza-clay was a good looking local fight but neither guy wanted to fight because it would of obliterated the ranking they worked hard(ok not that hard) to achieve. hearns duran might of not come off,
Never could figure out why the Amateur Light Heavyweight limit as 178 lbs. and the in the Professional ranks 175 lbs. 160 lbs. isn't really a middleweight anymore,,,,,,,
yes it needs to exist most of the cruisers do not have the talent including power size and speed to be a legitimate heavyweight contender there are only a rare few that were able to make the transition:yep:think
There always seems to be alot of good fighters at 195 lbs. In great shape physically, and welll-schooled. But fighting big guys at 215+, they get worn down after 5 rounds. This whole weight class level needs to be revamped.
Does the cruiserweight division need to exist? Yes it does need to exist, in that there should be a weight class sitting right where it is… but it can only exist under another name. As the heavyweight division. Change its name now. As it does in the Amateurs. These are the correct descendants of the classic heavyweight champions in anyway. what we know as heavyweight in the pros today is where the super heavyweights go once they turn pro. It is not the heavyweight division anymore. And had not been for a long time. It has the wrong title
Ugh no to you. Also HW should be the unlimited weight division you shouldn't need to make any weight to enter like in the old days. Lot of the 175lbers who don't want to force feed themselves to 200lbs miss there chance like when Moore, Charles and Johnson haunted the division.
NO, that SHOULD Be Heavyweight and the 6'5" plus Giants can ALL have their own **** Poor, Super-Heavyweight Divison
Im neither a "weight worshiper" nor a fan of these super/junior divisions but yes I think its needed, in fact the only one, as that is a pretty big jump to be fair, porportionaly speaking. Why does standardizing with the amateurs matter?
