Surley Snr kenw the weight when it was signed. Plus Jnr was walking round eating fried chicken 2 weeks ago.
I know it's naive of me because of the money involved, but if the weight is too dangerous to manage and a fighters health is in serious danger, why do the BBoC not step in at all when these contracts and stipulations are set? Shouldn't they have a medical expert who can rule on these decisions?
Very good point. Licensing a fight with conditions relating to weight should have some kind of medical validation.
Looking at his boxrec he only made 160 for the first time 1 month before the Saunders fight. Before that he was always around 163lbs. Out of all his fight he has only made 160 9 times! So less than a third of his fights
Frank Warren has said this a few times. I think anyone with an IQ over 60 can see this is more dangerous than a normal fight. So where does the BBOC stand if something went wrong?
He's also had some strong words for Matchroom and previous antics having people sitting in saunas to make the weight. Can't remember specifically which fight he was referring to but it was in the aftermath of Michael Watson and all that.
I hope it goes ahead. Eubank’s talent is just stunning and to see him put away that tattooed gimp would be terrific entertainment.
Boxing promoters do not consider the health of the boxers. I know of cases where a boxer was forced to enter the ring with a broken hand.
I agree. Find a reasonable opponent for Conor Benn and then drop all plans for Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn. In terms of health, it is not justifiable.
