How are people not calling him out for obvious cherry picking fighting Joshua coming off 2 losses. Even if he wins he won't get the full credit for beating AJ.

He should fight Usyk next and then fight Joshua after that when Joshua gets a few tuneups

Usyk didn't want to box in December. So, if Fury wants to be active before next spring/summer instead of being out for an entire year between bouts, this is the next best fight to make.

With Usyk taking time off, I can imagine that both Fury and Joshua's handlers would feel it better to do this fight now, rather than risk it being further devalued.

And Fury-Joshua actually builds Fury-Usyk even more.

I dunno if this guy is a hater or not, it's the general 'damned if he does/damned if he doesn't' thing that kills me where Fury's concerned.

he doesn't deserve a lot of credit for beating Joshua
    Ruiz beat Joshua
    it's not a huge feat

but Joshua is still rated in top 3 or 4 according to most people
& Usyk simply is not available

It's no cherry pick and credit to both for making this fight - if it comes off.

Kudos to Joshua, especially. With the rematch clause, he's facing the very real prospect of losing four fights in a row, and being beaten twice by two opponents back-to-back.

For a boxer who compared himself favourably to Lewis that would be a bitter pill to swallow...

It's actually a pretty risky fight when you think about it. Considering hes fighting the 3rd most dangerous guy in the division, he will get no credit if he wins and ridiculed if he loses.

One minute Fury's cherrypicking by calling out Chisora (fair enough) the next minute he's cherrypicking by calling out Joshua!

Fury doesn't have to fight Joshua; he could fight Charr, Kabayel or whoever else before Usyk in 2023 when Usyk's ready. Usyk's unavailable and Fury's fought Wilder x3 so who is more credible than Joshua? From a financial point of view, both in taking the fight before AJ's value diminishes further and in building the undisputed fight, this may well be the best time for Fury to fight AJ.

I don't actually care for this fight, I'd rather Fury froze AJ out. But if it happens then Fury should get a lot of credit. SHW KO artist AJ is still one of the most dangerous men out there, has less to lose and everything to gain, has 24 rounds against Usyk under his belt, is match fit, will be written off now and the politics may still favour him. The idea that AJ has less chance to win than ever is far from certain.

If Fury beats AJ but does so in less convincing fashion than Usyk did then Fury will be perceived to be avoiding Usyk to a greater degree if the fight doesn't materialise. So under the assumption that Fury doesn't want to fight Usyk (a take I vehemently disagree with) then he is risking making it harder for himself to credibly avoid Usyk.

Well there's a rematch clause, I believe. I just assumed it would be for both parties, but could be wrong...
