Like he had against Joe Joyce, he actually landed alot of overhand rights, left hooks on Joyce and he also outworked him early on. Takam is a decent boxer and a solid operator, i think if he had a bit more power he could have pushed Joyce into deep waters. Joyce and Joshuas stoppages over Takam were British stoppages.
He does need rounds but his style of fighting doesnt allow him to get rounds. He just wants to take his opponent out as soon as possible, with very hard explosive punches, i dont think hes looking to break them down like Joyce does, hes not a skillful great out boxer either, he can be outboxed. He will be looking to steamroll Takam.
i think Takam is the more skillful but less durable smaller derek chisora. So aslong as he performs well and doesnt get seriously beaten, he will still have a job as a gatekeeper - highend journeyman.
Depends on Takam's approach I guess. If he goes into survival mode like he did vs Joshua then he'll probably have very little success as he's backed up. But if he does what he usually does and is willing to trade and look to get inside then I could see him having some success. In the end Mahk should take over and stop Takam as that's the way most Takam fights end when he steps up a level. But whatever happens Takam should be a good litmus test for Mahk to see what his level is and what potential he has.
Prime for prime he is better than Chisora but Chisora got the w when it counted. Takam was out working him mind you
Takam definitely out worked him, Chisora didn't try to live with that pace though, he instead showed his experience and rolled with the shots and picked his punches, waiting for Takam to punch himself out. I'm not sure if Takam was better than Chisora in his prime. Prime Chisora was lighter and better conditioned and could have dealt with the pace better and I think in a 12 round fight may have found a way to win just like they did when they were both past prime. Takam's chin at some point would have to take a bomb from Chisora and fact is Chisora could take Takam's best shots and Takam couldn't take Chisora's and in the end with two aggressive fighters that would likely be the deciding factor.
Mahmudov is an early starter and Takam will not be able to cope against him, Makhmudov will crush him with punches from the very beginning and then knock him out early...
I have no idea how good Makh really is because he's fought nobodies so far. I don't consider 50 year old shot Wach anything more than a punching bag at this point. At least Takam can box. He was beating Chisora and Joyce before they KO'd him.
