Golovkin is getting a beating this weekend!! But not before he lays it on the line in the first few rounds. He'll probably start fast and try to KO Canelo, or at least he should. Abel Sanchez recently said that if Golovkin fights aggressive he can win. If he fights like in the rematch he's losing.

Both fighters have a lot to prove. I think Golovkin is more aggressive the first few rounds. He's going to go after Canelo and likely do his best work, until he starts feeling those counter hooks to the body.

Canelo has mastered that lefthook. He used to throw the right to the body more, but now his left is his go t

Golovkin will lose by decision and receive the biggest beating of his life in the process, or his corner may throw in the towel if it's starts getting sad.

I predict a fight of the year type fight with Canelo's superior athletic ability and superior skills beating the titanium chin, relentless power puncher but without first getting lumped up a bit.

Basically, this is all going to come down to whether or not GGG will still have his KO ability when Canelo gets gassed.

I predict Canelo will try to blitzkrieg GGG from the beginning. His aim is to get rid of GGGs ability to KO him since he knows the judges got him covered when it comes to scorecards. He’ll likely spam the walk down + power shot approach in an attempt to wear GGG down so that in the later rounds after he’s burned out of stamina, GGG will be too fragile to want to risk going for a KO. At that point all Canelo has to do is coast to victory since the judges will give him the win if it goes to decision.

But the things is, Banks already said he knows this is what Canelo will do meaning GGG is well prepared for it.

So what would GGG have to do? Prevent Canelo from taking away his KO ability and the best way to do that is to keep Canelo off of him with the jab. Once Canelo’s eaten enough jabs, he’ll get frustrated and lose his game plan by throwing power shots to the arm to try disabling the jab, but GGGs camp already knows about that tactic from the Bivol fight and will likely replicate the same countermeasures with ice packs/endswells. Canelo will of course gas out from doing that and then GGG will go to town with power shots of his own to get the KO.

Of course the fight could turn out nothing like this, but then it just might.

I think GGG can make adjustment and won't go there to get dominated/KOed. I think the guy is intelligent and he understands he must use what works for him : his jab. I never saw him hurt. I still think Canelo UD but I think many tend to exaggerate their prediction for big upcoming fights.

This is the last round they fought :

Yes it will be one hell of a fight! It's tomorrow!!

The key to the match to me is whether or not Canelo will be able to land the kind of big sweat spraying shots that he landed in the first 2 fights. Will GGG this time showcase better defense and avoid getting hit with the kind of eye-catching flashy shots by Canelo that wow the judges and the crowd?

The other aspect to it of course is will GGG be able to land big shots on Canelo. Who will be able to land more "sweat spraying" heavy shots in this one I think is going to be the key. An interesting aspect of this 3rd encounter is what kind of gameplan Johnathon Banks has put together with Golovkin. What kind of adjustments will he have made to be more effective against Canelo than he was the first 2 times. In plain terms, will GGG do better than the first 2 fights or worse?

Will Canelo put a beat down on GGG? It's certainly possible, but not a forgone conclusion. GGG might be able to hang in there for 12 rounds, grind it out, and maybe win enough rounds to win a decision. I think what could happen if Canelo is not careful is the judges could be very favorable to GGG this time in close rounds, especially if GGG is outworking Canelo and If (and it's a big IF) Canelo is not able to land sweat spraying shots in said close rounds which is Canelo's bread and butter. Unless he can outbox GGG like he did in the early rounds of the first fight which required a lot of footwork. I'm not talking about stiff jabs, or body shots, or just generic power punches. But if GGG can tighten up his defense, and avoid getting hit with the kind of round-swinging eye-catching shots that fell him the first 2 times, then he has a good chance to win a decision. Because again, the judges are human beings, they've had the fact that many fans think GGG won both of the first 2 fight in thier minds for the last 4/5 years.

Weisfeld and Moretti just scored Canelo's last match against him, and Moretti scored the first Canelo GGG fight for GGG. So these are two judges with a history of scoring close matches against Canelo. This means if GGG keeps it close, he might get the benefit of the doubt this time in a close decision. Of course GGG fans would be doubtful of this logic, but it's a distinct possibility. But GGG has to be competitive here for that to happen.

Could GGG get beat up? Could this turn into another razor close barnburner that ends in controversy? Or could GGG surprise and surprise Canelo with a different gameplan? I think any of these scenarios are possible, but Canelo's better skillset and overall ability would seem to give him a slight edge. That said, the early rounds are going to be key. A lot of people expect GGG to be aggressive early, I'm not so sure that will happen. Of course it's hard to predict, but I could see GGG being cautious and Canelo the one to be more aggressive early, because Canelo is the one who sees this fight as personal and he's the one who wants to make a statement by winning this one convincingly. So if anyone's going to come out aggressive, it might be Canelo. At the same time, Canelo is a notoriously slow starter.

One final note that is interesting is that Canelo revealed this week in an interview that he hasn't been able to run (roadwork) in training since the first GGG fight. Apparently that knee surgery was more than just removing a cyst, as according to him it caused him to not be able to run in training since that first GGG fight. So that more than anything could explain why Canelo chose to fight in the pocket in the rematch, which turned him into more of a seek and destroy fighter.

He said that, in this camp, for the first time in 5 years, he's been running and roadwork in this training camp, which is interesting. Given this revelation, I wonder if this means that Canelo will show some of the footwork he showed in the first match. Of course doing that would seem to be the opposite of being more aggressive and trying to KO GGG. Maybe we'll see more footwork from Canelo but maybe not as much as the first match, sort of a hybrid style of how he fought GGG the first 2 times. One thing that could be an issue for Canelo as he gets older is his speed and elusiveness. I'm not one of those people who thinks Canelo is on the slide, I don't think he's relaly slowed down much at all, especially at 168. The speed seemed to still be there early vs Bivol, even at 175. The elusiveness though started to go away as fatigue started to set in the middle rounds. If Canelo does fatigue here, that's when GGG needs to load up and try to land big shots on Canelo. If Canelo doesn't gas, he's pretty much unbeatable, but he has been known to gas which was a problem against GGG in the past and certainly vs Bivol.

It should be a great fight, I really don't have a strong opinion on how this fight will play out, but that's what makes it so exciting. Anything could happen here. GGG could shock the world, or Canelo could give GGG the beating of his life. We just don't know. But regardless the outcome, I look forward to discussing what happened intelligently and without fanboy bias in the days and weeks and probably years to come. LETS GO!!

GGG can win and I hope he does but I can't help but feel it will be a body shot that will be his undoing in rounds 8-10 unfortunately.

GGG's legs are too far past it. He'll be game and the fight will be entertaining, but I think he'll wear out and get out-youthed. Would love to be wrong, tho.

Golovkin should have taken a strategy out of the Marquez playbook and roided himself to the gills. He's getting KO'd.

I would like nothing more than a G win especially since I had him winning the first 2 even though he was already on the downside. Thing with G is that his hands have gotten too slow. He misses way too much with the rt hand now. I'll be happy just seeing him make it too the end. 40 is damn old to be competing anywhere near the highest level.

Golovkin's always been shredded. What I have seen is Golovkin looking older and older in the ring. His stamina and power has visibly decreased over the years.

Golovkin has looked far stronger in his latest outings than in his last fight with Canelo. He knocked down Szeremeta with a jab and was hurting Murata with that jab. I think even with the same strategy as fight II, his punches will be more effective this time, and wear Canelo down more.

Murata looked very active vs Golovkin, more so than I think Canelo can be, though there’s something to be said about feinting and landing more accurate shots which is Canelo’s strength. Golovkin also easily absorbed a lot of Murata’s shots so unless Canelo is dominating so clearly that he can land clean shot after clean shot, push Golovkin back and basically do what he wants, this will be a hard fought fight.

And actually after thinking about it for this post I’m favoring Golovkin. He didn’t look too old to me vs Murata. And Canelo doesn;t use the footwork that usually kills older fighters. He’s flat footed himself. And I don’t see him being so superior tactically that he will outsmart Golovkin consistently enough to put on the beating people seem to be expecting.

Now that GGG has slowed down a bit Canelo has a much better chance of getting his first win in the series. I still think Golovkin has enough in the tank to pull off the sweep though.

I think Golovkin will be down by a liver shot.
