In Hindsight, Is Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson still the biggest upset?

I didn't think it would be likely for Foreman to land the one-punch KO he'd need to win that fight, but I always knew it was a possibility. Any big puncher always has a small chance of winning via one-punch KO.

 

My thoughts going into it were that Douglas had a great jab and a big reach advantage but that didn't exactly help Holmes and Buster is no Holmes. I figured over in under 3. Was completely shocked by the outcome.

 

This was such a sports moment. I went to a mall the next day & some electronics store had a huge (for the time) tv in the window & they were playing the fight! The crowd gathered at that store was ridiculous. Everyone was watching the fight. It was so exciting!

Moving forward from the upset for a moment - based on his form in Tokyo, I actually thought Buster would beat Holyfield - but alas, Buster turned back into a big round pumpkin and the glass slipper no longer fit his swollen foot - a short lived Fairy Tale.

I actually thought the same as you. I figured that Douglas had momentum on his side. As champion, he could make enough money to raise his young son, much like Ken Norton raised his son. Both guys were single parents. But I was shocked when Douglas showed up resembling the Goodyear Blimp and lost.
