Disappointing Fights

I was really looking forward to Duran V SRL 3!
After the Duran Barkley fight and Leonard Hearns rematch I was expecting fire works!
A complete dud.
Foreman v Morrison let me down.
Two big hitters in there, thought might have seen one of those great 90 s Heavyweight battles.
Not to be.

We were promised fireworks but it was just a washout

Two from yesteryear.
1/ LMR v Bunny Sterling, had read soooo much about Luis skill set, his movement, how clever he was, his work rate was unparalleled, etc, oh dear !! what a complete let down, he looked worse than bad, slow, timing all-over the place, totally uncorrelated, lest we forget, back in those days we in the UK rarely saw the fighters from across the pond, Napoles, Olivares, Monzon, I only had the reports from the Boxing News to give me an insight to their prowess, so I was so excited to see Rodriguez in the flesh, but wish I hadn't.
2/ Lottie Mwale v Bunny ( another one) Johnson, they both could box and punch , had good chins, took along 4 friends, told them to expect fireworks, sure to be a torrid tussle said I , turned out to be a 30 minute bore fest Zzzzz, so much was I annoyed, that I went to ringside and shouted at the ref Mike Jacobs " this is a fix, for god's sake tell them to stop sparring and fight " he winked at me, and carried on with the pantomime.

David Haye vs Audley Harrison, Tony Bellew vs Nathan Cleverly II

 

Those two definitely.

Mike Tyson-James 'Bonecrusher' Smith. Most of us thought that,although Tyson was a big favourite,it was going to be an exciting brawl in a short and sweet sense. Not the hugfest it turned out to be. Not that Tyson could be blamed for it.

 

Oh that was an absolute stink of a fight

 

Tucker vs Tyson wasnt much better.

Also Douglass vs Evander, his first defense of the title. Where he got knocked down in the first round if I remember correctly. Major let down.

 

Lewis v Holyfield 1. 2 undefeated greats for the unified HW title. But unfortunately was pretty dull.

 

Chavez/De La HoyaI still stings. For Chavez to go into the bout already cut, after I literally stayed up to six in the morning to watch the 'fight'... I took it very personally!

 

Greats and unified are abstract terms... Undefeated is definitively wrong!
