This fight was actually very close. The thing is, when your are used to GGG letting his hand go more it is very odd to see him holding back and being tentative. What i saw on a rewatch was Golovkin was very good defensibly and he was frustrating Canelo because Canelo could hardly get anything done while expending all his energy.Going into round 9 Canelo was spent. So GGG was doing kind of a ropadope of sorts. He was showing a different side of his vast experience. How Golovkin fought was a shock though, not at all what i expected. He looked like a different fighter vs Murata. I expected an improved version of that fighter, along with some defensive cageyness. I didnt expect to be wondering why he wouldnt let his hands go. I will say this, Canelo was there for the taking the last 4 rounds.

It wasn't close. I mean the last 4 rounds were close. After 8 rounds, it was a near shutout if not a shutout. Giving GGG rounds like 6 or 8, I'll give those a rewatch, but that seems like a stretch. With all due respect, it sounds like you guys are just looking for any remotely close rounds to give GGG. I know for sure that GGG didn't win Round 1, and I see some people giving GGG that round. 6 or 8 might be a better argument for GGG, but you guys are really reaching here trying to give GGG these rounds. You said it yourself, you were shocked at how GGG fought, how ineffective he was, how little he threw or landed until round 9. But at the same time you're trying to say some of those rounds were close or GGG won them. I don't think so, man. I think you gotta accept the loss here. I know you were hoping for a GGG win here, but this was a clear victory for Canelo. I don't see how there is a reasonable argument here that GGG won or even came close to winning.

8-4 Canelo. He finally has a legitimate win over, an albeit ancient, GGG

I do, and nothing about appointed boxing judges is legitimate. Maybe you don’t know much about boxing.

3 actually. The first GGG was gifted a draw. But I don't mind the draw, it only made Canelo more motivated to kick his ass in the rematch then dominate him in the 3rd fight. Undefeated 3x vs GGG is legendary.

I'm not mad at anyone thinking GGG won the first fight, or the 2nd fight for that matter. Both were close and could be interpreted in different ways, but both were hugely impressive performances by Canelo, and he clearly did what GGG fans never thought he could. Which was inflict damage on GGG, show a high level of skill and not get hurt by the supposed bigger puncher.

He made Canelo miss alot, and casually avoided alot of Canelo's attemps. He blocked head and body shots, Canelo was mostly only able to hit GGG below the belt on the hip or upper leg. So alot of Canelo's attemps were in vain, but GGG did land his jabs and other shots. Canelo was edging most of the early rounds but not by much.i had GGG winning 1,9,10,11,12, and i had Canelo winning 2,3,4,5,7, and 2 swing rounds 6 and 8th. My point is this time the judges got it right. That being said i still thought that GGG would do much better. GGG was much bigger than Canelo in this fight, he seemed to have the size ,strength and power, but the extra weight seemed to slow him down. I know the fight was close because i watched it 3 times carefully. Even an old GGG is much better than Plant and Saunders, a bigger threat. I'm sure Canelo would agree. Look at Canelo after this fight compared to his other fights since they last fought. Nobody pushed Canelo like GGG did except Bivol. If GGG was sharper he would have beat Canelo because Canelo seemed a bit vulnerable, especially in the late rounds, but it was GGG'S experience and power threat that contributed to this. I must add though, Canelo does seem to be slipping and should take a break like he says.
