Most fighters want to choose nicknames that either fit their real name (Michael “Second To” Nunn) or ones they think will strike fear into their opponents (lol, like someone is going to be scared of a nickname): Bonecrusher and the Executioner or the Dark Destroyer, etc. But others either have non-threatening nicknames, almost the opposite of what one would expect from a man who trades punches for a living — maybe they had a sense of humor or get tagged with a nickname in childhood or in the gym or whatever for some reason or another. Let’s explore those: Roy “Cookie’ Wallace Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker Eric “Butterbean” Esch Bunny Johnson (near as I can tell this is his given name; can’t find a ‘real’ first name if Bunny isn’t it) Who are some more? (Let’s not go with neutral ones like “Six Heads” but ones that are really non-threatening as in make you think they’d be warm and fuzzy, please.)
if Ray Robinson was not as great as he was we would probably all agree that "Sugar" is very soft nickname for a boxer. instead it is the mark of a master
Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade James "Chunky" DeGale John "The Quiet Man" Ruiz Denis "Momma's Boy" Douglin Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan
