Clearly someone is getting KO'ed. I am expecting Wilder to stop Helenius inside 5 rounds, I'd be surprised if it went longer than that and it might not even go 3 rounds. The way Helenius stands so upright and leans back I can see Wilder stepping in with the right hand and laying him out.
I wouldn't be surprised by a Deontay Wilder Vs Dominic Breazeale fight scenario. And if Wilder, who is younger than Helenius, loses in any way, then it really is time for him to retire, and he will further tarnish the image of his 10 defenses of the WBC belt, and it will be justified. I still think Wilder will win; he knocked down all opponents (I know about TKO Johann Duhaupas), he will knock down Helenius as well.
I'm definitely excited for the return of the Bronze Bomber! Yes, he is one-dimensional, but that one dimension is exciting, and the division needs him in it!
That's the most likely scenario and the one I'm expecting, a crushing right hand ends it. As far as Helenius , I'm not sold on his resurrected career moment. I think his 2 wins over Kownacki exposed what level Kownacki was really at rather than how good Helenius currently is. Would I be shocked if Helenius won? With the questions hanging over Wilder after his ko losses no, I wouldn't be shocked as it would indicate a fighter who's finished and that is a plausible outcome given Wilder's unknowns.
Seems like your breakdown is correct but something tells me Helenius. Solid fundamentals, confidence on the rise, nothing to lose attitude, benefit of seeing what Fury did to Wilder and the possible lasting damaged after it... He has to avoid the bomb by carefully anticipating it and at the same time let his hands go and boy can he put some punishing combinations together... Will it turn out too hard to pull out? I tend to think it's fairly within his grasp.
This is a great crossroads matchup and the kind of fight other than unification's that many of us live for as fight fans. The definition of a don't blink fight. as a long time Wilder detractor and Helenius fan this will be a total emotional rollercoaster for me regardless of the outcome. Both men deserve credit for taking this fight.
Wilder was unable to beat Fury so now he has to rebuild and start again with this Helenius fight being up first. Despite these losses to Fury,Wilder is still the most exciting and most dangerous fighter in the division without a doubt and the division is better with him in it. There is still some great fights out there for Wilder before he retires .
