If Warren had put this on Boxnation when Hearn was with Sky, Hearn would have crucified him on IFL.

Does appear a very small figure considering there are 8 billion people on earth.

That’s actually a decent card. Agyarko’s opponent is an unbeaten American who has already fought twice this year, and Kiko Martinez will be a good test for Jordan Gill who got lucky last time out against Guerfi.

If Gary Cully can get a good opponent then it’s a decent card.

Against fighters who fought people with crap records though.

The whole card wouldn’t even be a decent undercard under another headline fight.

If you were not a subscriber you had to also buy a subscription to buy the PPV. Do people not understand the economics of DAZN far outweigh the traditional PPV platforms.

from what I am told traditional US PPV platforms take a 35-45% cut depending on fight and provider. DAZN currently take 20-25% which will likely change once platform has grown sufficiently. It’s the only platform that can offer worldwide PPV service on one platform thus increasing revenue on major fights.

On top of this they are selling subscriptions on top of the PPV the economics are slightly more advanced but they also give fighters a cut of subs generated. Let’s say the fight generated 150k new subscribers for DAZN the average subscriber takes 7 months to cancel a subscription service they do not require any longer. Let’s say they only cost it at a 4 month cancellation rate. At $19.99 x 150k x 3 that’s an additional $12m dollars in revenue a PPV fight generated the platform. The buys and subs is because you have to buy a sub with the PPV if you don’t already have it.

So just from a random viewpoint. There’s lots saying the fight lost money. It really did not. On top of that when did a US fight last do these number?

Trafford, you keep avoiding the question - how come you know so much about Matchroom and DAZN? You're either an employee or have a source there.

I’m no employee. But can do simple math and maybe speak to people from time to time. I will try to stay as unbiased as possible for instance I don’t think the UK content over the last 6 months has been strong enough especially with the recent Taylor card announcement. But from what it’s told they tried to make bigger fights on the platform like Taylor vs MMA cyborg but couldn’t get it done in time likewise with Warrington vs Wood etc they just don’t work out for one reason or another it’s rarely the promoters fault. They have tried to make Buatsi vs Smith now which also will not come off. They then have obligations to get the fighters out and we end up with different fights that aren’t of the same quality. Not a defence but it’s not for the promoters lack of trying to make the fights.
I know that Matchroom have tried to make big fights since the DAZN deal such as Yarde vs Buatsi, Smith vs Bivol, Warrington vs Wood, Taylor vs Serrano 2, Benn vs Eubank, Ryder vs Jacobs etc some come off and most don’t as they want more money, more time or they want it when the fight is bigger which in the case of Buatsi vs Yarde Will not be the case. Someone advised Yarde that it’s bigger once they are both champions in a unification but often that simply will not be the case as things rarely align.

I also know that Hearn pre the fury deal was looking to go back and offer wilder a one fight deal in the Middle East likely vs Chisora and also a 2/3 fight deal. He also would likely put up the most money for a Wilder v Usyk fight but Wilder will not be allowed to fight off platform

You mention Katie Taylor vs Cris Cyborg - did DAZN always plan on going down the crossover/youtube route to increase subs? Seems a bit desperate to me.

Surely Hearn knows his UK stuff has gone downhill fast?

Not a good look biting on Twitter at people. Hearn is definitely on the ropes.

Wouldn’t see any reputable outfit like Sky Sports getting into any childish **** like this.

Most of it annoys me, from the sycophants on the commentary, to the likes of Conor Benn dissecting fights, with his vast experience and knowledge. The cards are not only poor quality in the main, but also few and far between. The big US fights, aren't really DAZN, they've just got the rights to them .

Laura Woods - clueless. Bellew - insufferable. That Ade bloke is alright. The choice of pundits/co-commentators are horrendous... they've had the likes of Shannon Courtenay and Skye Nicolson on there.

After every fight 'we'll have a quick 30 seconds with the winner then 10 mins with Eddie'

This 1m is definitely people who subbed as well for the fight worldwide.

I hope DAZN purely go down the youtube route and leave actual boxing alone

No will go per fighter and whichever fight brings the most eyes to the platform and pays the fighters the most. Outside of Serrano the cyborg or holly holm fight is likely the second biggest fight for Taylor.

matchrooms remit is to provide content to DAZN that people want to watch and maintains subscriber and generates new subscribers. Whilst paying their fighters big money.

it’s clear that they are trying their best to do that even if it means crossover fights. There’s not a promoter in the world that wouldn’t have done mayweather vs McGregor for instance for their network.
