If he wasn't American there would be no chance that he would be inducted, one of the most padded records of all time
Success alone doesn't automatically put you in the HOF. Like I said, he'll get in at some point despite a relatively weak resume.
The topic now boils down to who likes Wilder, and who doesn't like Wilder. And the topic is whether Wilder deserves the HoF (so Wilder's personality should be ignored). Yes, he will definitely be in the HoF when the time comes. HoF and ATG are different things though. The statistics (10 title defenses) cannot be ignored. Referring to Wilder's resume is more of an ATG thing than a HoF thing.
bull****.... it comes down to his shitty resume. A bunch of defenses, not even as THE HW World Champ, against terrible comp. All you can do is look at numbers w/o context to try and justify. Andre Berto is a HOFer too I guess...
I knew in advance that you would use Wilder's resume as an argument. I knew in advance that you would use Wilder's resume as an argument.
Uhm...because it's a valid argument??? A string of defenses against scrubs, all while doing so with a very weak resume....if HOF material??
I'm a heavy critic of Wilder, but he's earned his spot as far as I'm concerned. Especially if he defeats a few more top heavies before retiring.
Resume matters for HoF, if only defenses mattered guys with 17 defenses who beat everybody they fought wouldn't be outside of the HoF.
It really makes you see who actually know what they have been watching as opposed to repeating lines they've heard from the Internet.
By that logic anybody can be in. Sylvester should have never been in. Sylvester is in due to his fame, and he's still more famous than Wilder. He still shouldn't be in.
