Oldest as in, far back in time.
Myself, its probably Jack Johnson. And the guy s that were around at that time that couldn't get a title shot due to their skin colour.

    Anyway, you're s??

I genuinely admire Charley Burley and Archie Moore. Well what I know of them.

    Also Ser (Yes) Lionel Rose.

"hero after winning the title fight against Harada, and tens of thousands of people welcomed him home to Melbourne from Tokyo. That same year Rose was also appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire."

Jack Dempsey could be a deeply thoughtful, generous and compassionate man.

I love Dempsey too. His fight with Willard actually got me interested in the classic era.
    He is a legend!

Oh of course. I rented a DVD from the only library in town, It contained all of the Willard fight and highlights of many others we can see today, I grew up very poor with no internet so I was blessed with a lack of knowledge and my imagination ran wild on the topic of Jack Dempsey. The picture I built from the brief narration of his life (20 minutes?) and my own idea of the era and the cowboys painted a solid picture of what would ultimately not look dissimilar to the original. As Nietzsche said "People often prefer the replica" my version fought John L Sulivan...

Spot on. Jack destroying Willard never gets old for me. Who can't be enthralled if you love boxing, with the sight of Dempsey smashing him to the floor!

Jack Dempsey looked like Conan the Barbarian in that one.

Daniel Mendoza he was British heavyweight Champion in the 1700s he faced a lot of prejudice as British born bare Knuckle boxer with a Hebrew and Portuguese background. I got interested in him after reading Mendoza the jew.

John Gully English bare Knuckle boxer from in the 1880s he came from a working class background was imprisoned for debt and then began boxing after retirement he became a member of parliament!

John L Sullivan out of condition hired conditioner William Muldoon to help him lose a load of weight and prepare for his fight with Jake Kilrain that training camp was inspiring the discipline and mental fortitude it took to do that. Although Sullivan beat Kilrain he reverted back to his old ways and then later became a evangelist and preacher against alcohol in later life.

As mentioned by others Jack Johnson the coloured and later world heavyweight champion.

Gene Tunney a real Renaissance man who took Jack Dempsey's best and was able to get back up and beat him.

I dunno, who is actually "older", Archie Moore, Floyd Patterson, or Sugar Ray? Whoever of those is the oldest..........of them would be my answer.

Those are the main 3 "old" guys I like.
