    i think so
they have invested in AJ. as a star fighter. on a multi-year plan
& they are faced with him coming off 2 losses going into another fight he possibly (probably) will lose
& with zero hope after that of a credible world title shot

    it's a massive mega fight
but it is not the plan they envisaged

    i don't trust Eddie Hearn
publicly he is saying he wants this fight & backs AJ
    i'd like to believe him
but he's been notably coy and vague on the details right now

if Joshua doesn't take this fight

Fury probably will shamelessly take an easy fight with Charr or some other shocking bum.

it's a voluntary defence so he can drag any bum up from the WBC top 15.
depending on your point of view, this is either better or worse than no fight at all.

to be fair to Charr, he's willing to fight. he's putting his name forward. i don't see many heavyweights putting their name forward right now.

    Exactly.
The rematch going to Sky was bad. Him losing it worse. But three in a row against a guy who they probably want to build a fight towards anyway is going to be hard to come back from. Their strategy is probably milk him for a few fights whilst rebuilding his brand fighting beatable opponents and then work up to a Fury bout but this fight will mess all of that up. On the other hand he might win which would be a huge boost for them but at the moment that seems unlikely.
I don't see what other issues there could be. They've got a date and venue, the splits are agreed and both teams are up for it. The hard stuff is all done.

He is putting his name forward because he wants a significant cheque as a retired boxer; potentially the biggest in his career, at the lowest point in his career. There’s no “to be fair” in that.

Joshua and Wilder have faced bums in defences, but Fury should at least face an active opponent and not some retired, old man. He’s had a laugh at Joshua facing old men and he would be doing the same, but even worse. He would probably try to put it on pay-per-view and also big ups Charr as a former world champion when he isn’t.

my point is where are the heavyweights calling to be Fury's voluntary right now?
in this world of Twitter etc.

yes no excuses if he fights Charr. it's a disgrace really if that happens. it's barely worth comment.

everyone available in the WBC top 15 should be calling for the Fury fight right now. not sure why they are not.

    They should be, unless injured.

Rice Pudding fight would be good as Fury would batter him with ease.

Ducking under the doorway and standing in front of it like that is pure Fury.

Bored with all of the talking. Can never understand how fans can enjoy talking about it so much. No couch potato fan has a clue what’s going on and just looks to confirm their biases with “Hearn says”.
