Honestly, a case could be made. A lot of Fitz's best work was done when he was either over the middleweight limit, or in catchweight fights against heavyweights. NP Jack Dempsey and Creedon are fine wins, but those wins over Charles, Garcia and a bunch of others are pretty great in their own right. I picked Kenny cause I like him and figured he wouldn't get much mention...But in terms of what he did *at the weight* it's enough to certainly warrant consideration.

The rules say that you must consider their whole career, not just what they did at the weight. There is no argument for Overlin here.

Pleased to see Dillon get a vote. Whilst not a top 7 middle based solely on fights contested at or around 160lbs, he does have a reasonable claim as one of 7 best p4p based on his entire career, of the 20 mentioned. I had Gibbons in my 7th spot just ahead of him, partially because of their 2 fights, but a credible argument for Dillon can be made

A shame that Hopkins doesn't qualify.

I agree, what Overlin did is often underappreciated and forgotten, but his entire career vs Fitz'? I don't see any case. And McGrain has expressed multiple times that it is their whole career rather than just their work at middle.

All of the above is true.

    However.

We have enough votes to absorb eccentricities and foibles. That is why we are nominating from a list rather than just nominating. I don't approve of people voting with their hearts, guts or inflated senses of injustice but I absolutely do not object to it.

Oh i'm not sure how to take this!!!

There's nothing between Burley and Williams i think. Perhaps the difference was as small as me considering Burley better at Welterweight

A huge part of me wants/wanted to take Ketchel out (my last guy in TBH) and put Burley in. I'm partial to it.

Ah, mostly compliment, you need to know a fair bit to be so clearly identified with that "mistake". And you're right - it's a cointoss between these two, I tend to favour Burley because of how their series of fights played out.

That Charles win might be the best win between the two of them. and it's not out of the question that a guy who rarely scaled over the middleweight limit could have snagged the LH championship had he gotten a shot circa 1941, Plus, he's got another win over another guy on this list (Apostoli).

Anyway, he warranted mention, in much the same manner that Accavallo and Carruthrers did in previous lists. That's the way I'm rolling with this, and if that seems idiosyncratic, then so be it.
