I think the amounts that a HW champ could potentially earn threw them also. If they ban a pole vaulter or swimmer and it goes against them in court they're not risking a 100m+ payout. I agree that UK gov has better things do spend its money on, but it does reflect an underlying problem with regulating a sport where the governing bodies can't afford to sanction the participants. Be very interesting to see what Matchroom and Wasserman do with this case. They've phrased that statement as if they're going to go after the BBBoC and legally they may have a case, but the reputational damage they're risking is going to be off the charts. Any sponsor or broadcaster is going to run a mile before they're associated with the promoter bankrupting the governing body for standing up for the sport. If I were them I think I'd bite the bullet on the costs incurred, let the legal side quietly drift away and focus on restaging it. The publicity this has attracted may help them make this a much bigger event in a few weeks time if they can make it happen. There'll certainly be a few who want to see Benn get what's coming to him, though I won't be paying a penny that may end up in his pocket.
Let's be honest, Conor isn't coming back from this one is he, everybody is sticking it to him and his roided up misshapen basketball of a head.
Nah he will. Unfortunately the casual audience are so naive about drug use amongst athletes and bodybuilders that they will genuinely buy any excuse on behalf of Benn that he didn’t intentionally take anything.
Press conference in 5 mins, I'm guessing more angry over the fact they've had to postpone than the failed drug test. This content is protected
"Look Kuuugs, I eat my missus out that often that is how it has got in my system" Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if this was one of their darts
I hear you man but this is getting massive coverage and Talksport, the casuals choice, is tearing Benn apart every hour.
There will be a list of excuses and plenty of mugs will buy it. Probably be a mental health sob story to go with it, as is the usual go-to these days whenever you get caught doing something wrong.
