Benn fails drug test

He's known what he's doing, if anything up until getting caught he's been guided impeccably, he's juiced to the gills and only just been caught and made an absolute fortune in the meantime despite never going anywhere near an opponent that should bring that kind of money. He's a cheat, it's not even a question anymore, he's been well and truly found out. We've been cheated out of watching his angry misshapen head taking a beating too.

I'm agreeing with you - but it would be a lot more satisfying for VADA to confirm the B sample had the same contents then there's no dispute.

 

Agree but it is my understanding that they only test the b sample when asked too, But until they do it’s not considered a failed test. An utterly ridiculous system open to abuse from scumbags like Hearn. It’s giving him the right to go round saying that Benn hasn’t failed a test, despite the fact he’s been caught with his pants down

 

The reason they split the samples into 2 is because it’s easier to detect in smaller quantities. It may not show in a different sample.

Isn't VADA something you only get if you're signed up for it though? I'm guessing the idea is to get your juicing done and dusted prior to the testing period beginning, but someone in Team Benn screwed up and he still had a detectable amount in his bloodstream. Maybe if they released the dates of the tests some of the forum PED experts could break down where the mistake was made?

I don't think that's actually true, it is a failed test and the athlete can be provisionally suspended from the point of the A sample failure. The b-sample is an option the athlete concerned can take up if they want to, but that often doesn't happen. I think the "not guilty till the b-sample is tested" is Hearn doing his utmost to muddy the waters, it's like a lie told often enough it becomes the truth. In this case the real "loophole" is the test was from the voluntary VADA tests, and as the BBBoC only recognise the UKAD tests it's left them unable to take action on the drug test.

What should happen, and what does happen, appears to be quite different sometimes. Perhaps especially so in boxing.
