Kickboxing is great. I wish it was still as big as peak 90s/00s K1 days but for todays standards this is a pretty big card.

Hoping Reem pulls it off but obviously hes the underdog.

Having a big, multi-stage date for the long weekend and my wife and I are celebrating 8 years since we started dating.

We're gonna go dancing tonight with a friend of ours (who's in a boring relationship so now all our dates have a weird third wheel), going to the aquarium during the day, then heading to a football game that we thought was going to be in the afternoon but will actually have us there very late tomorrow.

More of an Overeem fan but I definitely think Badr wins this one. Looks like Ubereem is back though.

Khbabez vs Maslobojev is gonna be fireworks too, fight of the night material.

K1 is the only fight sport that has caught my attention apart from boxing. It was great.

10000 times better than this MMA crap.

Lol, I love MMA but yeah, K1 at its peak was better imo. It was probably my favourite thing in combat sports for a good chunk of the 00s. I feel like it could have easily blown up in America to the same extent the UFC eventually did if only they'd have found a few elite American kickboxers to push and pursued the market more aggressively.

It was weird how quick it was tbh. In late 2010 they had that GP that Overeem won and it still felt pretty big and star studded at the time. Then not long after that it just kind of dropped off the map completely, most of the names in that GP never fought in K1 again and the original owners sold the company.

Glory came along a few years later and they did initially have some of the big names like Semmy, Aerts and Le Banner but in truth these guys were really getting old at that point and in the last two cases were long past their best. Semmy was still good but he had to retire not long after because of a heart condition iirc.

So basically the K1 "brand" lost its value and presence and at the same time the sport as a whole lost a lot of its star power.

Overeem roided to the gills. I like kickboxing but 3 rounds? Come on. Too short.
