There's so many facets to this that makes me feel more and more disillusioned with the sport. The most disappointing aspect for me isn't that Benn has been juicing, he's a s***house and deserves a long ban. It's not all those around him that facilitated it or defending him. It's not even that toad of a promoter...for me it's the BBBofC. They knew about it for weeks and they were turning a blind eye to it for the wedge. They need turfing out, the whole lot of them. They are an absolute disgrace. The only reason they decided to not sanction the fight was that it came out into the open and they didn't want to be associated with it. In terms of integrity, they have been caught with their pants down.
I know people say sometimes we as fans like the politics and the financial side of the boxing game more than the fight itself. That's because we rarely get the fights we want to see. So we're forced to latch onto shiiit like this week and discuss it. No other sport is like this because the best more often than not face each other. In boxing, the best avoid each other, fleece the fans, until its time to cash out. That's why we as fans get disillusioned and discuss boxers purses and drug tests rather than the nuances of the orthodox stance against the southpaw stance.
yes the problem is: everyone accused of wrongdoing in all walks of life must have fair chance to defend themselves. especially where their livelihoods are effected. errors can occur. unfortunately this opens the door to every high profile cheat with financial resources to allege they are victim. as others have point out, ordinary boxers caught cheating get long bans and lose their appeals (if they appeal). but star boxers can cheat & get high paid lawyers to get them cleared or receive light punishments. it's difficult to get the right balance. It's the same throughout society. we are not all treated equally under the law.
Was Eddie involved when Chavez failed a test and they just moved the fight to a different Jurisdiction
It definitely is https://www.wada-ama.org/en/prohibited-list?q=clomifene click on the "all times" Although the point is moot if UKAD didn't test at the times needed for it to show up. Unless there is one sample still in the pipeline being tested ....
Utter shambles. The WBC's program needs to be rolled out across the board. Fighters shouldn't be tested just in camp, it's stupid and doesn't make sense.
It's easy to hate on Benn and he has ruined a fight i was looking forward to this weekend. Fact is many many many top athletes and sportsman are on PEDs in most top sports. Drug testing overall is a joke, look at the women in the Crossfit games lol ! juiced to the gills
And Paddy the Baddy. This is why the Board probably kept quiet, one brick could crumble the whole thing
The people giving this energy need to give the same energy to the likes of Fury who also failed a test. All cheats should be banned.
No coincidence that everyone's favourite tinker is now ko'ing feared punchers this late in his career. Hmm...
