“We have information about the testing programme” - sounds to me like they’re going to try and say VADA is faulty? - which will be a HUGE legal battle if that’s the case That’s all I can think of, because there’s ZERO excuse for having Clomifene in your system.
Lmfao so apparently there was another occasion when Benn tested for Clomid again. Being investigated for it. No wonder he has kept so quiet and not come out with the typical “contaminated” or “accidentally took the substance” type of excuse. If true then Matchroom have been burying failed drug tests to make fights happen. Warren alluded to the fact that it’s happened before with them this week.
Eddie just doesn’t get it does he, the billy joe Saunders case is a red herring. The board didn’t do anything because the substance billy joe popped for isn’t banned by UKAD or the bbboc. Willfully misleading people
I doubt people would be openly talking about a further failed test unless there was real 'substance' to it. This could unravel into huge problems for Matchroom, what they're coming up against here is a press that they can't control, the national press have got their teeth into this and they can't be scared off with threats of losing access like the YouTube channels. Eddie, is very quiet in Australia at the minute, but he will have to show his face later this week and I hope the Australian press go at him big time.
The story is becoming very black and white here isn’t it… They were desperate for another PPV star as they know the AJ train is coming to the end. Benn has the name, but as we all saw early on had very little ability to go with it. Then came the miraculous year off where he went from being a punchbag for journey men to becoming a monster and knocking out opponents left right and centre. Eddie and Conor and the cronies were knowingly allowing juicing and covering it to try and build the Benn name. It’s a dark time for the sport.
“We have information about the testing programme” ... I think some copy and paste error missed the trailing ..", and it's produced failed drug tests for Conor on previous occasions too ... we all hushed it up" .. allegedly. To be fair, Eddie did say to wait until all the facts came out ..... oh, hang on ..
I believe it is banned but only while 'in competition' which UKAD deem the day of the fight which again shows what a joke of an organisation that is.
It’s almost like the sudden huge improvement and change in personality that saw him go from an excitable child to aggressive and angry wasn’t a coincidence.
I reckon Eddie will be confident he can get away with it, with what we know so far. However, every national sports journalist is now digging for that big scoop that will finish Matchroom, I get the feeling Matchroom have dug that many graves that it won't be too long before someone finds one. Boxing is a dirty business and I don't doubt there's a lot of people that will be willing to help the press to uncover more and more.
If Matchroom were involved in some large scale cover up , which personally I doubt , then more promoter's than not would be sitting pretty uncomfortably right now from some of the stories I've heard. I think rightly or wrongly this is a case of using technicalities to work around certain situations ie failed drugs tests from an agency the board doesn't recognise and which technically (albeit not morally) carries no weight in this instance. MR will argue that the fight absolutely could have gone ahead and both fighters wanted it to but they decided against it. CEJ may well argue he's lost out on up to £5m because the fight was pulled when both fighters were willing to fight and 'technically' there was nothing stopping that happening. I think the delay in pulling the fight will have been partly due to MR legal team making sure that that couldn't happen if they voluntarily pulled the fight and did not choose to engage an alternative board to licence the fight.
