    These seven were utterly dominant. Number 8 had less than half the votes of number seven.

    Near Miss: Sonny Liston can't be said to have suffered a near miss, but he finished in eighth place.
    The Big Surprise: Jeffries and Sullivan get nowhere near double figures.
    Shocking!: I think there was a day when Jack Dempsey would have been in clean; now he can't even make 8th place.

    Agreed. When I was a kid the I often heard or read that Johnson, Dempsey, Louis and Marciano were the four men Muhammad Ali would never beat. They were considered the Mount Rushmore of heavyweights.
