I'm a Fury guy, and it didn't really bother me. It's a dogfight at the end of the day. It gave Tyson the opportunity to show how a champion responds to such a situation (no use crying over spilt milk) while guys pissed and moaned because we didn't get the soft kind of cut stoppage more typical of a UK prize ring. Anyway, this would be a decent bounceback bout for Oluwafemi. And, lest it be said that I don't shoot straight, Wallin is the opponent Fury should have selected after it became obvious Hearn was stalling out negotiations. (Fury garnered himself a whole shitload of credit when he bodyguarded Oluwafemi from Wilder, however — needless to say, I won't be getting carried away and turning coat here.)
Does Wallin get the same medical exemptions as Big Joshie? If so it might help with the KO power. He's tough, pretty big and a southpaw, so that's good. It's a longshot, but maybe he can take enough punishment to grind Joshua down.
You watch the amateur fight? Hardly whooped him. He edged the first 2 then gassed and lost the last round.
I can see Wallin potentially winning this. He's not easy to hit early in a fight and as it goes on I can't see Joshua's gas tank holding up much better than Wallin's. I see this as a potential cherry pick gone wrong.
If the fight is made, Oluwafemi better win it, by hook or by crook. Otto is no slob, but a defeat to him at this stage would be a categorical cue for an Anthony Joshua Is Over Party.
Wallin is a good comeback fight, but Im getting the feeling their real target is McKean. Big Bang Zhang is another good option. Maybe Ortiz? Kabayel? December 17th is a good date to set up a strong 2023, with Dillian rematch, Wilder and Fury as targets.
