There’s a big difference in thinking you are a good street fighter and being a boxer fighting in a ring under boxing rules

 

Glad there are at least other forum members who know when a fight is close or not.

 

I have to be honest, I only checked their amateur fight a few days before this fight. I was team Marshall all the way but Shields schooled her in their amateur fight, and did the same here. Thankfully I watched the first fight before I put a bet on and won a few quid on Shields. Feel like an idiot for not watching their previous fight sooner.

 

I understand that fully. I boxed as an am a little I know my way around a boxing ring.

 

Yes, and no. When there is a fight with quality then, yes I would love to see more. However, a lot of women's fights lack in skill level and professional fundamentals. I'm more than happy with two minute rounds in a lot of those fights.

shields slaps with her palms when she rapid fires to the body. looks flashy, thats why she does it. keeps her elbows close, which denies her arms the angle to put some real mustard on her shots. but that allows her the speed to do it safely. but... i also saw her really dig some body shots in, when that was her intent.
also, i think her going to the ropes was intentional. she was doing her version of floyd. one of the ways he liked showing you he was better than you by styling on you. like ray with the shoe shine. i think shields uses bad boxing techniue intentionally sometimes. but she also knows how to do most things the right way. has flaws like most fighters.

 

Yeah, fans get crazy. Of all the fans boxing fans seem to be better to other fans. Baseball and football fans hate their rivals.

 

I'm watching the press conference right now, a little minor swelling is not what I describe as messed up

 

Teams usually have some sort of deference to a city where someone is born. A connection. “Your” team. Individual sports don’t have that representation.

Yeah I thought she shower some new elements. In her highlight reel they showed the same combination a million times because she hasn't thrown a lot of really hard punches her career, but she did tonight.

A good opponent brought out some higher quality.

So where do we all suppose Sky go from here with their laydeeboxing agenda?

They can't sell Shields to the UK audience, the Brits just don't get behind foreigners. Getting her over and paying her was all about building Marshall into a domestic star, a project which has flopped. If Claressa boxes here again, it'll have to be opposite another Brit, like the Jonas woman.

Are they really going to push on with big-eared Fartingstall and sour-faced Price?
