Andy Ruiz is too much of a proud warrior to take a dive like Helenius and Scott. Wilder will need to really fight him. But Ruiz is not too difficult to hit, for someone with long arms like Wilder. And if Wilder lands several of his windmill punches, Ruiz will be broken down and stopped.
Wilder still seems to be really interested in winning boxing matches. Ruiz hasn't showed that since the first AJ fight.
Ruiz is dangerous but I'd rather Wilder go straight to Joshua next, assuming AJ wins his bout. No sense in waiting around any longer.
Tough one for me to call. I give Wilder some credit for tonight, but only so much. Helenius has not been a top guy since the Chisora fight and the injuries. Still, it was the hardest puncher Wilder has ever been in with, and he didn't have to take the fight. Wilder's best wins are Ortiz, Stiverne, Washington and now Helenius, and that really says something. On the other side, the gutty tub to took it to Joshua is long gone. I honestly don't know, but lean to Wilder. Ruiz killed his strength by gaining and losing all that cerveza weight. Make this fight. Right now, I still have Joshua as #3, but there is no doubt that the winner of this is on deck.
Ruiz for me would be the best opponent Wilder has fought not called Tyson Fury, so it's a dangerous fight for Wilder. But in the end I think Wilder's height, reach along with Ruiz's diet of corona, burritos and snickers ensuring he's out of position and unable to throw enough to win, will see Wilder come out victorious, probably by KO.
Ruiz didn't seem to want to engage Ortiz so I doubt he would with Wilder. I almost think we get a very boring fight, similar to the rematch with AJ. Still, I think Wilder would probably stop him late in the fight or win a rather dull decision.
Honestly don't know. I can see either one winning. I think it depends more on how Wilder chooses to fight than anything else. If he fights smart, stays long, but doesn't give rounds away like he tends to do against live fighters, just waiting to hit their off button, I think he can win. Can he do that at this stage? Idk... If he gets too wild, I think he gets hurt and possibly beat up. If he's too cautious, waiting for a KO that doesn't come, he gets outworked and loses a UD. I think there's a nice middle ground he needs to be at to win.
"Ruiz is a dangerous fight for Wilder" Ruiz had the same diet and weight when he was in position and threw enough to become unified heavyweight champion. He exposed Joshua but provided Wilder's chin hasn't disintegrated post-Fury, Ruiz is no threat to Wilder at all. Ruiz was ducking Ortiz for 2.5 years for a reason: he will look like the Arreola that people were saying was shot back in 2016 when Wilder schooled and retired him. Then many will claim that Ruiz was shot or took a dive and the cycle continues.
Wilder by KO! I would said that Ruiz from AJ 1 and AJ 2 will take Wilder power, but he played with his weight way too much, and was/is too lazy and that affected his durability, which was seen against Arreola and against Ortiz. He wasn't hurt by Ortiz, but he was hesitant to go for the KO when caught with hard shots. That wasn't the case against AJ, who is also a bigger puncher. But the desire to goes through fire that he had against AJ is 100% gone. I also think that Wilder right hand hit a bit harder than AJs. How much harder is also hard to say, cause to be fair Wilder was never ever in a battle with good chin guys, let alone Iron and Granite ones.
