That's just Wilder demonstrating how easy it is to be magnanimous toward someone you knocked out cold and didn't receive a horrific beatdown from. Staged? Only as much as any of these filmed backstage sportsmanship displays are staged anymore. Got to show what a beautiful, virtuous human Deontay is these days. Notwithstanding the refusal to give credit, the paranoia and the bizarre excuse-making, which continues regardless, I prefer him in his 'live by the sword, die by the sword' incarnation rather than the weepy, touchy-feely one we saw at the post-fight presser last night. I guess that guy will make a return when Deontay next senses a considerable threat.
I literally have second hand embarrassment reading all these comments accusing Helenius of taking a dive, especially coming from long-term and well-established posters who should know better.
Yeah just watched a video of a Washington i think, that said he spar with pretty much every big name(outside of Fury), and was ranking them. He said that Wilder was one of the guys that was talking trash in the sparing session. He said it was in a sportsmanship manner, but still. He said Klitschko, Usyk and Joshua never does that. Wilder "good" look for me at least was gone, the moment he mention he want body on his record. Even if it was a joke, an intimidation, this ain't properly in this type of sport, especially the timing he did this, it was when boxer died after a fight or smth. like this. Though i like that he is back, cause i think he had a lot to give to the division. A lot of great fights to be made with his name.
Helenius left himself wide open and was moving into the shot enhancing the effect. It was not a dive. Just predictable. If someone is going to beat Wilder, their defense has to be on point and Helenius was the opposite of that.
I,m a bit stunned some users here really wear the tinfoil hat proudly ... If some users believe it was a dive let them - nobody listens and not a single person out of the boxing world or any of the boxing association questions this fight.
You guys are a total echo chamber. PBC Never has THE ****ING KO IN THE HIGHLIGHT RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT. EVER. They didn't put the goddamn Plant Ko in the highlight either...Is that fake too?
Well I don't know about what's going on in your mind, but I did see Helenius's eyes when he was flat on his back and they were as blank as roadkill. You can't fake that, he got starched.
Thank you, thank you... the sound of that shot says it all ,Helenius hit the ground out! I'm astonished long time observers of this sport think that was a dive. It's obviously personal bias interfering with observable fact.
His power is legit freakish But his matchmaking, quality of opposition and the woeful skill level of his opposition is the main reason for his success
I'm not saying it's impossible Helenius took a dive, I'm just saying that isn't very likely. First of all, Wilder hits so hard he doesn't need to pay someone to get knocked out. Second, Helenius was already KOd by two guys Wilder beat and he is weak to right hands. Third, Helenius was completely off guard and ran right into a punch he didn't see coming. Now if you add all that up and then consider that Wilder doesn't have the money to entice Helenius to ruin his entire career taking a dive (he would have easily made 5-10 million against Usyk, Joshua, Fury, etc), then a dive doesn't seem likely. I watched it 6x in a row and I'm not sure why people are convinced it looks suspicious. He ran right into that punch.
This content is protected I think people are well within reason to call this a dive. Look at a few things here: How much weight and torque Deontay wasn't able to put into it, WHERE he hit him and what part of Deontay's hand landed (closer to his pinky). It's shady enough to speculate at a minimum.
Can't tell if a part of the glove landed on the nose as well, but if it did - not hurting it at all, not even some blood while causing such a "heavy" knockout? Then it's obvious: Helenius' head is weaker than his testicles if he goes out after such punch.
