Do you think that Wilder has a shot to recreate the KOs of McCall and Rahman put on Lewis? I have a feeling that Wilder has a better chance vs. Lewis than Fury does.
Wilder is a bigger puncher than both, so no doubt he has a puncher's chance. I'd certainly go with Lewis in that matchup by KO5. Wilder is one guy I'd always be nervous betting against though.
If Rahman and McCall could find space and knock out Lewis then Wilder who is a faster and harder puncher than both of them could very well knock out Lewis.
Wilder had a decent puncher's chance against pre Steward Lewis, markedly better than Ruddock. He had no chance against post Rahman I Lewis. None.
Lewis better all round but,as has been constantly said, you can't rule out Wilder till the final bell sounds. It ain't over till the Bronze Bomber stings.
An earlier Lewis he has the best chance against but I still favor Lewis. 97-01 Lewis when focused is getting him outta there no later than md rds everytime.
Lewis wouldn't underestimate Wilder and would go out there and do a professional job stopping Wilder within 6 rounds.
Wilder would certainly sleep the Lewis who fought Vitali , thats for sure. Lewis would need to be 100% switched on and at his best to beat Wilder.
After those two KO losses, no way does Lewis not take Wilder deadly seriously. Likely outcome is being stopped by Lewis, quickly -- Wilder is the type that would lead Lewis to go into seek and destroy mode because the fewer chances Wilder has to get him with that right, the better.
Let me look into my Chrystal Bowl here.... Lennox Lewis was one shotted twice by two Ham and Eggers without exceptional; power or speed, one even throw the right with his eyes closed, nobody would remember those two without the Lewis KO. Guess what Wilder's best punch is, the straight right, extended or not or a right short or long hook.............he just put a 6'6 250 pound top 20 fighter with a short right into a coma.............the power is real. Wilder has landed his rights on every single fighter he has met in the Ring and the only fighter that was able to get up within a hair of getting stopped twice was Tyson Fury. Lewis aint got Fury's chin or recovery. Fact. Whenever Lemmie took a fighter serious he played it safe , very safe, see One Trick Pony fat Tua, Oldiefield or against the Ghost of Mike Tyson. In reality this will be a very tactical 50/50 fight because Lewis is not going to take any chances. BTW, Wilder will sleep the Bodybuilder AJ without a doubt.
"Whenever Lemmie took a fighter serious he played it safe , very safe, see One Trick Pony fat Tua, Oldiefield or against the Ghost of Mike Tyson." People overlook this, Lewis objectively didn't have anything like Fury's confidence. Holyfield wasn't a big puncher, 6'1 and fought at 190 lbs for most of his 20's: Lewis was denied by the U.S. judges in the first fight and what did he do in the rematch? Boxed for 12 rounds again and hoped the American judges wouldn't deny him again, this time in a fight he could have easily lost or drew again given location and how competitive it was. And this was a 37 year old Holyfield who had been KO'd by a faded Bowe in 8 rounds 4 years prior and was on the cusp of losing to John Ruiz. Lewis admitted that the reason he fought so defensively was because he was worried about getting caught or gassing out. Aside from confidence/balls, Lewis didn't have Fury's durability, speed, agility or defence and Wilder is longer + more athletic + more powerful than anyone Lewis ever fought, including the crackhead and the greenhorn who 1-punch KO'd him. Wilder is also tougher than Lewis, with an extreme will and delusional confidence.
