I ask that as a former fan.

 

Andrade doesn't want to fight anybody it seems. Dude should just retire because he's not getting the Canelo fight.

 

Is there a point to holding the punch? Seems like you should be training to pull it back instantly.

There is, it's a power-building exercise. Resistance and time under tension builds power. After practicing that, driving the shot into the shield after impact, the punch should be stronger, more impactful when thrown the usual way. Plant's already ingrained the memory to retract his punch, he's not going to lose it by selectively training that exercise.

 

Ah ok. I usually just stand facing a wall and press and hold my fist against it. I’ve never thrown a punch and held it like that before.

 

I'm just regurgitating. I've done that same work Plant's doing with a quality coach, and that's how it was explained to me. All I know is it works.
