One of Teddy's points was there USED to be firm rules against beards but maybe not anymore. Beards are in style now among the youngsters. I mean BEARDS like ZZ Top. Certainly beards were not glamorous anytime from WWI and the early 1970's so having a rule against beards wasn't needed.
Vitali vs Danny Williams. I remember Danny was threatning to pull out of the fight as Vitali was wanting him to shave his beard.
I don't think it provides a meaningful cushion but it obscures the target. I have a beard and even with a short one you can really change the apparently shape of your face. Say you make the sides half an inch long and the bottom a full inch, that is the difference between landing that big middle knuckle on the tip of the chin vs hitting it with just glove padding (with a left hook).
Vaseline is more problematic and should not be allowed at least when no cut on the boxer's face. Maybe there were rules back in the old days, it can only proves those rules served nothing while allowing people like Tony Galento to go to fight with a bad hygiene which gives you better advantage than some hair on your face.
vaseline protects from cuts, not from concussion. Cuts should be avoided in a fight at any cost. Nothing wrong with that.
Fighters should be clean shaven or wearing a mustache. Beards and goatees are not appropriate for the sport.
I hope so. But Fulton is with Showtime, MJ is with DAZN, and Inoue is aligned w/ Top Rank/ESPN. None of these are massive money fights, so no one's gonna be jockeying for exclusive hosting rights and a collaboration shouldn't be too difficult
Beards or goatees make no difference. If you get hit on the button it could put your lights out all the same. Its not a padding for your chin. Lol
It definitely makes a difference. Maybe not a massive difference, but I can see how a thick beard greased up with Vaseline can dampen a blow.
