In this match-up , Louis blows the soul clean out of Dempsey's vessel.

Dempsey never met anyone with the combination punching skills of big Joe.
There still hasn't been a Heavyweight who throws combos as beautiful as the bomber or as viciously executed.
Joe would chop Dempsey down between 8 and 10 rounds, maybe sooner.

Agreed, Louis is winning this fight, as for combos, a young Tyson threw some pretty destructive punches, one after the other.

Two of my faves. I like Dempsey in this matchup. His combination of speed aggression power and elusive head movement is too much for Joe IMO

Louis was next level compared to Dempsey.
Although Dempsey had quite a chin for most of his career, so he could do as well as a clear decision loss.

Comparing their styles Louis looks like a modern fighter while Dempsey looks crude.
It's a matter of which punch Louis finishes Dempsey with, left hook or a right hand delivered from any direction.

I see it just the same but I think Joe may be dropped early on. Excellent fight.

I love Louis, but for guys like him their downfall is pace and aggression. Dempsey had them in spades.

Dempsey pretty quickly. He is to quick for the flat footed Louis and he also starts early. Dempsey was a vicious puncher and a crowder.

Louis never does well the first match against greats either. Dempsey knocks him out in 5 rounds.

Louis would take about 4 rounds to KO the crude and outclassed Dempsey

There was nothing crude about Dempsey.

You’ve obviously never watched Dempsey if you think he was crude.

They are not even remotely alike stylistically, so how would you even begin to compare them?
