Did boxing peak in 2013? There hasn't been a year like it since.

Donaire vs Rigondeaux
Froch vs Groves
Mayweather vs Alvarez
and best of Broner vs Maidana.
That's the last year that boxing was completely great from January to December

 

Pretty sad to see that the big fights that the people have been wanting to see this year aren't happening. There's no excuse for us not having Crawford vs Spence, Beterbiev vs Bivol, and Fury vs Usyk this year. Just another example of why boxing is just a business.

 

Meh, that's weak compared to the 2000s. Most of those guys were already on their way out. Broner wasn't even that good. Just compare that to 2003 for example

True but its been 9 years and we have gotten nothing but a good fight here and there. That year alone makes the last 9 look like childs play.

Man, I wish boxing was still run by the old mob........at least they made a lot of great fights.

 

Yanks are the biggest Duckers in boxing, when they used to rule it.

 

No doubt. The early 10s were awesome. You also had Danny Garcia and GGG plus a lot more fighters that we missed, mixing it up what seemed to be every other weekend.

 

I hate to make excuses but it just seems like there’s no money in it. Spence and Crawford want big time prime time ppv money but let’s face it, nobody outside of some guys on here even gives a ****. To be perfectly honest I don’t even care if they fight anymore. Boxing has sucked the well dry and even hardcore guys like me are now casuals. There are zero stars in this sport at the moment besides some heavyweights.

I could tell my casual boxing friend that used to watch a **** load of boxing with me that Spence is fighting this weekend, and he’d say who the hell is that?

Sorry Crawford and Spence, you aren’t getting anywhere near pac or may money. The market has corrected itself. I’d bet the ppv would tank.

PPV needs to go back to big fights not guys with a name beating up journeymen. Many of these PPV fights would have been great on Friday Night Fights or the weekend holy grail HBO boxing. I miss old man Larry Merchant watching a guy in a mismatch fight and letting him know he's a POS for doing it. Thats what boxing needs. A grizzled old man calling everyone out on their bull****.
