That doesn't matter as they are niche sports. I've had sky since 1991. Nobody will ever trump sky sports. They've had that on lock for decades now.
Hmm - Champions League might be the "best competition" but it had real popularity when it was on ITV. Just like F1, once it went to Sky and showed every single game live, the novelty ran out pretty quickly. It's purely anecdotal but I'm a football nut as are all my friends, and interest in the CL has never been lower.
The F1, darts and cricket rights (World Cup, IPL, England home test matches, ODIs, T20s) mean BT are very far away let alone main Premiership games. BT have definitely closed the gap in recent years though. People underestimate the power of F1 for Sky - it draws big numbers.
And I guess BT is now in bed with Discovery so will have the Olympics by the time it comes round again. BBC will still have the blue riband stuff like the 100m final and the "Brits doing well" but the Olympics is the one time a year people lose their minds and spend 4 hours watching dancing horses and gymnasts that look like they're straight in from a club.
I agree. Frank Warren's event on September 16th was not particularly exciting and the undercard for Joyce vs Parker was below average in relation to the fact that it was PPV.
I agree. The TV / streaming rights for the Premier League are worth far more than the Champions League.
