Since it is Halloween Season, Sonny Liston, Joe Louis,Ingo show up at your front door in prime form.

On the contrary Liston was known to be quite warm, honest, charming, gentle and generous to those that truly knew him. Loved kids.You have to dig beneath the knowledge of base level internet posts and get to the core. Some say Joe Louis was actually his best friend.

Former light-heavyweight champion Jose Torres said, "I have never met an athlete in baseball, basketball or football who is smarter, more intelligent than Sonny Liston".

 

Simple .. I would ask Ingo why the hell you would walk on the opposite street as Liston and purposely avoid him ??
And I guess Chok would respond, well he wouldn't have if the street was in Sweden ??

 

Has anyone even contemplated what they would dress up as for Halloween?

I mean Liston could go as Louis and Louis as Ingo and Ingo as Liston, I guess.

But what about:

Sonny Liston as a big, ugly bear?

Joe Louis as a bomber pilot in a brown bomber jacket?

Ingo as … one of the dudes in ABBA? Or maybe one of the chicks?

No doubt he would be great company in such a setting, and with his best friend Joe Louis and business associate and friend Ingo in tow to boot! It would be an absolute riot!

I heard somebody else in a documentary about Liston mention how intelligent Sonny was. Also remember Davey Pearl, who apparently knew Liston well, speaking highly of him. I'm not doubting the folks who were close to him and saying good things about the man. The OP was about Sonny just showing up at your door though, which is a different situation. Not sure Sonny would have been a chatterbox in a situation like that. Showing up with his friend Joe Louis would help I'm sure. Showing up by himself could potentially be weird. I've seen several interviews with him though, and he would often give short answers, which led me to believe that maybe he wasn't a great conversationalist. His deadpan expression kind of just adds to that aura.

 

He gives short answers because he's not comfortable under such spotlight - he's different in private settings, such as knocking on your door with some partners in horror for a fun filled evening of Halloween festivities. He was illiterate which added to his public insecurity.

Larry Holmes is another that was completely different, in different ways to Sonny, under the media spotlight vs in more comfortable private settings with trusted folk.

Sonny would be great value at house USFBulls.
