Clenelo’s legacy if he loses to Bivol in the rematch…

Every fighter has limits. It won't mean much. I do believe most people (excluding myself) underrated Bivol's skills because he wasn't as "known" and considered "boring."

 

Nah Canelo probably walks around over 190... That's at least 30lbs & 22lbs north of his best fighting weights .... MW & SMW.. hes short but hes a unit... Loma walks around about 145 I believe.. just 10lbs above LW .. in a division where most of the Fighters rehydrate basically to WW overnight... Lopez for example (even in shape) was walking around close to 160 in fact just a couple of years back.. probably heavier now... so i don't think it's a legit comparison.

 

I think it would be refreshing if the judges continued to score his fights fairly like they did in the 3rd GGG fight. That would be nice. His corruption reputation might disapate, making his fights more intertaining?

 

I certainly agree with your big point, the judging around some of Canelo's biggest fights has been very poor. I don't know how responsible Canelo is for that though, he probably thinks they are correct as many top boxers are unable to be objective about their own fights and think they are doing much better than they actually are doing. I reckon his team and A-side status are enough to do the trick in general.

However one quibble: with all respect, I don't agree with you on the 3rd GGG fight - I think the judging was also poor: Canelo won clearly and the judges gave GGG a couple of pity rounds.

Not a Canelo fan and the list of reasons is exhaustive. His legacy goes up for me for taking on a decent fighter in a less favourable weight class for him. Winning enhances his legacy further but losing shouldn’t dampen it either. There are plenty of stains on his legacy but this is not one of them -win lose or draw.

 

Canelo is 5'8 and has short arms. I don't care what he walks around at he doesn't have the physical tools to be an elite light heavyweight. There's a reason why the sport isn't littered with short stubby fighters in every weight class

 

Canelo gets a pass for going out of his comfort zone up to Light heavyweight even if he does lose the rematch. What Canelo does not get a pass for is not fighting Andrade Charlos Munguia Benavidez .

 

No he just isn't big enough for LHW. Did Hearns' legacy take a hit when he got stopped by friggen Barkley, then lost again? Not to mention Hearns was far more suited to fight at higher weights and he is doing just fine.

Fighters lose, especially when you travel up in weight as a smaller fighter.
