First of all, looking forward to Loma's return this weekend!
We have to see what war and 10 months have done to Loma. Let's see.

Talking about two defensive wizards Loma and Pep, I see a lot of parallels in the defensive game. Foot, hand speed, movement, ring generalship.
    Even similar dimensions.

Is the main thing that sets them apart the power??
Loma has sneaky , underrated power. Decent KO % in comparison.

As to who would win , prime for prime at Featherweight, I believe it would be a chess match but Loma wins by virtue of that offensive gap.

    E toi?

This is a really high quality, interesting matchup. Well done. My initial reaction is to say Pep by decision. He's been near the top of the ATG list for six decades and is the easy answer. However, the fact is that Loma would be difficult for anyone in that weight range. Neither guy has ever fought someone quite like who they would fight if they met each other and watching how they would solve their opponent's riddle would be fascinating.

I'm still going to go with Pep by decision but I believe the more times they fought the more the advantage would go to The Matrix.

    Nice reply!

Maybe I'm underrating Pep's power here.

I was thinking that due to the similarities the biggest difference would be artillery but would Loma's artillery land on Pep? Hmm.

More tape needed for me to gage that better.
    Cheers!

    Was just watching some tape.

Wow! The styles are eerily similar..

Perhaps Benny Leonard at LW would be also a good fantasy match too. Another wizard of defense but also offense

Pep is the best pure boxer i have ever seen...Loma is special too...but i go with Pep by decision in a highly skilled beautiful fight.

Well, in his prime Loma only had 4-5 pro fights. Pep probably had 60. Don't know if that makes much of a difference.

I don't really see that much similarity with Loma and Pep at all other than their fancy footwork. Loma was definitely more offense oriented but still very slippery fighter while applying pressure. Pep was more of a pure boxer who fought mostly on the outside but can still unleash combinations in range without getting hit.

Loma would be a tough fighter for any Featherweight including Pep. Might favor Pep but I can also see Loma beating him as well.

Another interesting match up would be Loma against Eusebio Pedroza. Pedroza was very crafty, fast, and slick.

Yes. The footwork.. big part of boxing indeed.
As I mentioned, the offense is what may be ket difference

He had enough stamina despite smoking because he intentionally did as little as possible in the ring. Locche would be ridiculed in the modern age and would get 0 credit if he were fighting today.
