When Wilder offered AJ $50m it's well known that Joshua cried and asked Hearn to get him out of it. After the Parker fight he said on the mic in the ring that he wouldn't fight Wilder in America as it's not fair for his fans to have to spend loads of money travelling to America. Less than a year later he announces he's fighting Jarrell Miller in America. Guess America must have got cheaper in that time. Hearn gave Wilder a deadline to sign the AJ contract (which was a counter offer) but said the deadline was the reason they couldn't make the Fury fight as it all takes much longer than a week. Make it make sense.
So why did Wilder turn down AJ's far more financially higher offer (between 20-50 m) to face him and take on Tyson for like 5m?
You mean the email from Wilders personal email that had no terms or conditions (which they refused to send) and gave 24 hours to be signed? Yeah that wasn't a genuine offer and just a PR stunt, unlike the mutiple career high purse offers Wilder has turned down to fight AJ (including the 100m two fight deal). Wilder ducking AJ is the biggest duck in boxing history even wrote than Bowe ducking Lewis.
You're STILL sticking to that story? Pure fabrication. Hearn himself had said he had talks with Haymon directly, Hearn snr said they turned down the offer. Come on Mitch
Joshua has now ducked both Fury and Wilder - his two biggest rivals of this era. Has three losses on his record. Has won one fifty-fifty in his entire career, against an old bloke with one foot into retirement, who had just been schooled by Fury in his base of Germany. It's all falling apart.
The Whyte fight makes the most sense. Wilder is a very dangerous fight and not one I imagine his team will want him pursuing on the back of 2 losses to Usyk. Whyte is a winnable fight and given the previous history and needle between the two, it's draws money and is an easy sell. It's also an easy fight to make through Hearn.
One is a global sports brand. The other was barely known in his own state. Not difficult numpty I agree with you on chasing the American dream tho, that was some bull****. It was clear "the fans" were just a buzz word to him at that point
Fury, Wilder, Joyce and Bakole all flatten Joshua while Usyk will win an easy points decision any time they meet. The only future for Joshua is to rematch all his opponents from Charles Martin to Andy Ruiz staying away from any belts held by decent Heavyweights. Joshua is done and even fights v Whyte or Parker now are 50/50 for me when the first fights were 90/10. Can see a fight versus Chisora in the not too distant future for the Matchroom Journeyman Title.
I am not sure how good Bakole is. I thought he was fairly poor before, but his performance against Yoka (who is overrated, or was overrated himsel) was impressive but I still had him losing to Kuzmin (who isn't very good) and he got beat by Hunter in a bout he wanted to give up in but seemingly coerced into continuing by his trainer a round of two before being stopped. I am not sure he would like being hit by Joshua. Joshua hates being hit but Bakole may have less heart than Joshua, or less punch resistance. He is an absolute plodder who has a good variety of punches. If you're going to be that much of a plodder against Joshua then you ought to be able to take a punch - not sure if he could. Joyce and Wilder I am fairly certain would put Joshua over. Fury probably, but less confident in him being able to do so. Parker actually trying to fight would give Joshua a few problems. Joshua will be put in with cans like Washington next, which is fair enough. But no doubt Hearn will bill them as 'top 15" and stuff like that, when they are walkover jobs like some of his previous opponents like Pulev, Martin, Takam, Breazeale and Molina.
