If were talking "beat downs" and not "blow out' I'll start with the
Saint Valentines Massacre Robinson vs Lomatta #5, (It's alleged
Lomatta said "You didn't put me down Ray" At the end, but it really
didn't matter, he should've went down)
Ali's intentional torture of Ernie Terrell ,(Terrell I'm sure wished he called Ali
by his adoptive name after the fight) Holmes beating
Cobb from pillar to post (Cosell overreacted , but was correct,
    that fight should've been stopped)

    Vitali vs Briggs.

From around midway through to the 11th round I was praying that, PLEASE somebody stop this slaughter.

In the 12th, I was praying that, PLEASE nobody stop this fight! Having made it that far, it would have been beyond cruel to rob Briggs of the satisfaction to, if nothing else, last the distance!

Cosell didn't overreact. Cobb took so many stiff jabs and right hands to the face. That kind of fight is the kind that, overall, is far more damaging than a quick blowout. As it turns out, Cobb's head really is that hard because there's not a damn thing wrong with him long term, but he was lucky.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi always seemed like a particularly sadistic fighter to me. If he was better and could impose himself, he relished beating a man savagely probably more than actually winning.

Watson was beating Eubank and floored him before being caught.

Has to be Willard vs Dempsey for mine.

Yes, a cliched answer and it’s refreshing to throw other beatings into the fray.

However, no neutral corner rule, an unrelenting killer like Dempsey and a unsympathetic ref in “old school” Ollie Pecord - it couldn’t get any worse for Willard.

“Old school” my a**, Dempsey should’ve turned on Pecord and given him a taste also, see if Ollie wouldn’t find himself converting to the “new school” - and show some humaneness.

At least in the first round and after the first KD, that fight ceased to be a fight - having all the attributes of the most brutal mugging of a defenceless victim you might ever see.

Otherwise in more mod. times there was Tszyu’s protracted torturing of Gonzalez.

Big KT fan here but that should’ve been stopped much earlier - I seriously felt sorry for Gonzalez, a quality fighter and man with extraordinary heart and competitive will.

Yes, definitely seemed that way. Qawi-Saad Muhammad 2 also crossed my mind for this thread...
