Maybe you guys picking Joyce should wait until he beats ONE good HW first? I like the guy, but shill the eff out....
You need specific skillsets to beat good big guys. Ali can probably beat Joyce, as will Usyk. I don't think Foreman has the style or the skills to beat a good big man like Joyce. That's all it comes down to.
Usyk got all he could in a 5 rounder against baby 240 pounds Joyce. 270 pound 12 round Joyce kills him...but poeople will not understand till Fury deals with him.
Prime Povetkin is well capable of chinning Joyce. And Fury if Fury didn't fight smart. That's just in this era.
The reason the myth continues is because there will always be fans of bigger fighters, just because they are big. These die-hard types will not listen to reason, they'll just come back with boring numbers; 250, 260, 270, 6'6, 6'7, 6'8 blah blah blah. I admit these guys are huge and look fearsome, so it's understandable, to an extent. These fans will go on & on about size and it just becomes a sort of mantra for them. There's a reason why all these old men are champs & top contenders today and it ain't cause they are better than the fighters of the past, that's for sure.
Lewis is just under 6'5'' and W. Klitschko just over 6'5''. You're not very good at judging heights, are you? You probably think 'The Undertaker' is actually 7' tall. George Foreman would have next to no chance of beating Joyce. Joyce would toy with him.
Foreman would probably lose a round or three but stops him mid-way. Joyce with his chin up no defense style is getting him slept IMO
Yeah I agree with a lot of this, it still feels a bit silly to be making such a comparison, given Joyce is still a tad unproven. I do think Foreman losing would be a possibility tho, could see Joyce weathering the storm with Foreman tiring himself out. Wouldn’t rule that out. It’s deffo an interesting fight.
I don't have an opinion on the matchup itself, but it never ceases to interest me how effective unadulterated hype is and how easily it can sway people into some somewhat questionable perspectives. Joyce has 15 professional fights, has fought less than a handful of genuine quality fighters, and tries meeting every punch with his face. And there's actually no shortage of people picking him against a top 10 heavyweight of all time, and one of histories heaviest punchers, both cases proven over the course of 80 professional fights. I get it, styles make fights and all the other nuances of boxing lol... like I said I'm not criticizing picking Joyce here it's just interesting is all, picking a guy with 15 pro fights, and all the unknowns that entails, over a certifiable heavyweight ATG.
Old Foreman that fought Holyfield (not 3 yrs later vs. Moorer.. big difference between 41 and 44 in the ring) would have knocked Parker right the **** out. Next to Joyce, Foreman, young and old, looks like Floyd Patterson hand speed. Foreman > Joyce Ridiculous. Joyce hasn't even fought/beat anybody to get a championship run started. When is he going to fight Joshua/Usyk/Wilder/Fury?
Parker would have been far too quick for 90`s George and he has a good chin, Holy was a lot smaller than Parker and often stood right in front of George.
Bloated? Joyce`s body has more definition than George`s body did in the 70`s and he carries weight well because he`s so tall. Joyce`s jab would constantly be in Foreman`s face and he`ll out-reach him because of his 80.5 inch reach, that`s a longer jab than Foreman ever had to deal with.
Foreman only had a 78 inch reach and Joyce jabs constantly which would fully exploit that 2.5 inch reach difference, Foreman never had to deal with a jab like that.
