DAZN did also but PBC did it first.. And that’s why I said at that point they washed their hands and wasn’t in the business of losing money..

I can see it tbh. You know it’s bad when the spineless Espinoza is publicly speaking about how he want fights like Charlo vs Benavidez to be on regular Showtime but powers to be (Al Haymon) have other plans.

Actually, CBS the parent company of Showtiume, might fold Showtime into their new streaming service - Paramount Plus.
Espinoza may be out of a job and PBC may not have a home next year!

But they didn’t pull the plug until Dazn got it’s “$1B” deal. Read the Reuters link above.

Frankly even before PBC was really a thing (or much of one), HBO had drastically cut its boxing budget. It just wasn’t a needle-mover for them anymore.

Game of Thrones Budget had a lot to do with it as well. They actually almost had to cut GoT at one point because of budgeting issues, the boxing names just weren't there and fighters were expecting stupid purse demands without going under an actual contract. Not everyone back then were making Delahoya/Lennox money.

It took Mayweather an unbeaten record, 5 weight classes and an Oskee showdown to start making the money he was making

PBC screwed the pooch by vastly overpaying fighters to fight bums. It was purely a financial decision on HBOs part and we lost the best boxing broadcast.

Man I miss those TNF. I was working graveyard at the time and I had Teusdays off. Hang out at my brother's, drink,BBQ and watch the fights. The middle brother would get so into the fights, he would be yelling at fighters "JAB,JAB". LOL
