In either case it wasn't a one sided beat down, Watson was infront and winning. But he wasn't battering Eubank from pillar to post, Eubank remained competitive throughout most of the fight despite being behind. So I don't see how this fight fits the criteria of this thread in either case.

Your other example of Toney/Barkley fit the criteria better IMO.

Louis vs Schmeling could possibly be # 1 all on its own given a further refined category - “greatest concentration of punishment”(relative to duration) - in this case, Louis meted his punishment out over a mere 2 m 4 secs.

There’s a stat provided detailing that Louis threw 41 punches and landed 31 solidly (that’s Joe Louis “solid” - so that’s a big “ouch” about every 4 secs on average).

The Bomber almost tore Max’s head off with some of those shots (no disrespect but Louis turned Schmeling into a bobble head) and we know Max took heavy, damaging shots to the body also.

Not heavyweight, but i always like Sugar Ray Leonards ko over Pete Ranzany where he was just tomahawking right hands at a helpless Ranzany in the corner at the end

Surprised no one has mentioned Holmes vs Ali. Sure Ali was shot to bits but still that was as one sided sustained beating as you can get in a title fight

Everybody says Watson was on top till he got caught, that uppercut was a last ditch effort, Watson was ahead on points.

He wasn’t battering Eubank from pillar to post? Wow, okay. Eubank claims he nearly lost his life that night the beating was so bad.

It was a give and take battle which Watson was winning, but Eubank stayed competitive throughout the bout. I don't really know what else to say ? are you trying to say Watson dominated Eubank from the 1st bell up until that fateful uppercut landed in the 11th ? because that simply isn't true.

Just read the question again and what does it say ?

How does Eubank vs Watson 2 fit that criteria ? Watson was not giving Eubank a one sided beat down.

Muhammad Ali claimed he was in the near room to death against Joe Frazier in their 3rd meeting aswell, does that mean that fight was one sided aswell ? i don't think anyone would say Eubank vs Watson 2 wasn't a very grueling battle. But it certainly doesn't fit the criteria of "One sided beatings". Eubank also won the fight and Watson ended up in hospital and almost died, so again don't really get what your saying.

Two judges also had the fight 106-103, 105-104, which means they also don't agree with your opinion it was a one sided fight.

Leonard had a killer instinct second to none. His blitzkrieg of Andy Price was as viscous and pitiless as they come.
While I don't consider it as much a " beat down" , but a "Blow out". It was a brutally "savage".

Jackson - Castro comes to mind. Ironically Castro was beaten to a pulp during the whole fight and ended up winning.

    Chango Carmona - Mando Ramos.
Sooner or later his life style was bound to catch up with him, all the partying, the late nights, the drink, and finally the drugs al paid their part in the final demise of the " Golden Boy " the once handsome and bronzed face reduced to a bleeding, misshapen pulp, the physique that was swooned over by legions of west coast girls, was lying limp on the stretcher, with one arm falling out a the side, giving the appearance of a dead body, that said Ramos was lucky to be alive, the unmerciful pummeling at Carmonas hands had almost robbed Mando of the most precious of commodities life, it seemed a lifetime ago, that the fighter with the film star looks, and dynamite in his gloves arrived on the boxing scene, feted and admired in tandem, the Forum had neither seen so many female attendees, the norm was thousands of Latinos, and mexican Americans, cheering themselves hoarse at their hero and idol, has they had done for years, not so this night, the shouts and vociferous encouragement were absent, in their place was, a stunned silence, a disbelief, but not from everybody, many knew this night was in the ruins, they knew that Mando was on borrowed time, his faustian pact with El Diablo had come to the end of its run, it was payback time, and money wasn't the currency the Devil had in mind.....
    stay safe guys.

Random thought - I wonder if the more savage beatdowns (properly classified and over a protracted number of rounds) involved refs being errant, more often than not, in not stopping the fight or not stopping the fight sooner.

Point being, how many of these beat downs were pointless and unnecessary.

I’m not saying they ALL were.

For one exception, I would classify Tyson as being beat down by Douglas, that beat down increasing in severity as the rounds wore on but Mike was still trying throughout and having the power to potentially turn it around - which he almost did in round 8 (beatdown interruptus).

I saw no point prior to the actual KO that would warrant the ref waving it off - which, technically, might compromise its classification as a truly savage beat down- if that makes sense.

However, other fights like Tszyu vs Gonzalez, IIRC, could’ve been justifiably waved off several rounds earlier.

That was a terrible beating with Gonzalez barely able to fight back effectively nor holding anything in calculated potential to turn the fight around.

First thing that came to my mind was Pipino Cuevas bludgeoning poor Billy Backus in one round and restructuring his facial bone structure against his will. Brutal.

Watson was winning every round from about the 4th. Never hurt once until the 11th. It was one-sided and hideous.
