But that awkwardness hasnt made him any less likeable, people just see him as a nice and genuine fella
I’ve nothing against Fisher the boxer. Don’t think he’s particularly talented but hope he does well. His dad is insufferable though. I always see him pop on TikTok where his recurring gag seems to be his gluttony, particularity his fondness for Chinese takeaway, and as you say shouting “bosh”. I mean fair play to any grown adult who finds that amusing. I genuinely wish I was that easily amused.
It's not a bit of me but I saw a clip where the old man said his cheese business has gone down the pan since covid and inflation, so he does this to help pay the bills Whilst it ain't a bit of me, you can't fault the man for keep the wolf from the door. We've all got bills to pay and it ain't easy at the moment.
I’ll be honest I thought you were a proper bellend but you’ve made some very good points last few days.
I don't think it's so much that Joyce tries too hard. It's more that he knows he's supposed to sell the sizzle, steps up to the mic to give it a shot, can't take himself seriously enough to commit and instead sabotages the pantomime with self-effacing body language and mannerisms that let the discerning observer in on the nonplussed amusement he derives from such farces. When I search my memory for products of the British scene who tried too hard to live up to a trash-talking archetype, I think of guys like the early James DeGale (overweeningly cocksure, preening trash-talker model) or Dillian Whyte (roadman trash-talker model).
