Hate seeing you fired up and getting yourself into a war of words with a poster like that. Let him be. Stay safe neighbor.

What is the point of fantasy fights if people get insulted for their opinions?

Talking of young and old, I must be getting old and senile, because for the life of me I don't get that Martinez would have any chance, let alone beat Monzon, unless there is 2 Monzons !! .
This MW was one of the best ever at his weight, a lock for number 3/4, you can only realistically mention 3 other MW that would have had a chance against him, Greb-SRR- Hagler , how on earth can he lose to Martinez, on what planet is this fight on, honestly.....
I am ready for my hot chocolate and bed.
    night , night, .

Martinez isn't anywhere near the level of his countrymen like Galindez, Locche, and especially Monzon.
Having said that I do think it's a bit harsh to say that Martinez sucked. Sure his opposition isn't as great but he's given some memorable fights. He's a good fighter who managed to gain boxing stardom later in his career. The fact that he fought with such an unorthodox and unique style and was still successful in his late 30s is pretty remarkable. He's a future HOFer for sure.

I believe he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990 along with Ali, SRR, Napoles, Armstrong, Griffith, Pep, and a long list of other great fighters.

That one too, 5 years before his death. I met him once at a boxing match in Tucson, Sugar Ray Leonard vs Daniel Gonzalez, March 24 1979.

I was coming out of the restroom at the Tucson Community Center when we passed by each other, we nodded up at each other as a sign of acknowledgement and respect. He was tall and lanky, I went to a wedding that night, everyone was fascinated by the fact that I walked by Carlos Monzon whom I had followed since his title win over Nino Benvenuti on Nov 7 1970, KO 12.

Monzon was an evil scumbag as he murdered his wife, but he is one of the top 3 or 4 greatest middles ever. Once against, are Paris and Monaco his hometowns? AND he also beat Briscoe.

Should have matched Martinez with Vasquez for the battle of Argentina runner up ... Monzon already has first place locked up
