Why is someone with his ability so inactive? I know a lot of today’s champs take ridiculously long breaks in between fights, but I’d imagine that AB would be happy to throw down again. The man just ran through a top 5 LHW without getting a scratch, and then boom he’s back in the leisure abyss. There’s talks about him fighting Yarde but nothings confirmed, and if it is it wouldn’t be scheduled anytime soon. It really sucks because if he was more active and did a little more self promotion he’d easily be a boxing superstar. He’s a power punching machine and only boxing fans know who he is. Anyone expecting any fireworks from him at this point of his career or is retirement approaching?
If he was meant to fight Yarde, you can guarantee Yarde wants more time to prepare. Lol No one is jumping to fight Beterbiev, Bivol is the nicer less harmful route. Callum Smith, Buatsi?
With all his injuries and promotional issues I expect him to face Bivol and retire win lose or draw. You are absolutely right about him though, I just don't think he has the fire anymore.
Beterbiev showed no signs of slowing down against Smith who he absolutely destroyed in 1st gear. These contenders are waiting for his retirement. I'd say Pascal would have fought him at one stage, but he knows all about him the bulldozer.
He is fighting Yarde early next year and then he can fight Bivol for undisputed. Arum said it already.
Two reasons. 1. Because he scares other fighters and promoters shitless 2. He's never been pushed hard or marketed hard by the networks because they were too busy sucking off GGG and Loma
The Yarde fight was initially scheduled for late November but got pushed back to 2023 because of a Beterbiev small knee surgery if my memory serves me well.
Beterbiev had a injury, so the fight against Yarde will find olace in early 2023. Meanwhile Yarde will have a tune-up fight against Stefani Koykov. I still think Beterbiev will have at least 3 more, Yarde, Bivol.. and I hope he KOes Okoile before retiring.
Remember when he got dropped by bum Jeff Page and domestic level Callum Johnson dropped him heavily and then like an idiot let him off the hook from a KO defeat?
Then Johnson got what I assume was an earful from his corner when the round ended and came out more aggressive, but the moment was gone and Beterbiev went back to destroying him.
Beterbiev vs Yarde 28th January Then hopefully Unification vs Bivol in summer Bivol said hes not interested in a Canelo rematch so lets hope this fight happens
