That is a really good win but I think the wins over Rodrigo Valdez are probably his best.

they are OUTSTANDING wins .. .Carlos was the shopworn fighter .... 20 fights plus deeper in the pit and 2 and half years older than the power puncher Valdes .. You are smart, you use perspective ... and after the loss ,,, he went on to beat Briscoe

I think that this present offender is more of an uneducated troll. I think stupidity should be shot down without any hesitation.

Back in my teenage years, I was over at a friend's house. He said that Ali knocked Foreman out without hitting him. His Dad, who was a boxing fan and in the same room, starting yelling at him for making that comment (not making this up). His Dad finished his tirade by calling my buddy an idiot, then left the room. At that point, my buddy shrugged and said, "I guess I offended him". Had forgotten about that, but reading this thread resurfaced that hilarious memory.

BTW, wasn't intending to pile on Soul Surviva with the above story. I have no problem with how he thinks Martinez-Monzon might have turned out....I haven't seen enough of Monzon to even have an opinion on it anyway. Just throwing it out there.

then stick to your USF football bulls when they beat Clemson , South Carolina, and Texas tech ... because you obviously DKSAB and Monzon , same as that other poster ..... so back to football you go when USF had one of the best offenses in the nation ? do you know that? or do I know your own football program better than You !!!!

Martinez was a very decent fighter but he’d be up against a demonstrably great one. I can only see this going one way - to Monzon - and I think he’d stop him too, somewhere in the middle rounds.

You have to realize, I'm here to get AWAY from USF football. They are depressing me this year

The only two Monzon fights I've watched off the top of my head were Benvenuti and the Briscoe fight where Monzon was rocked in the 9th round. That was a strange moment, because it looked like Monzon was gone when that right hand landed, but after the clinch, the fight quickly fell back into the same pattern as if nothing had happened. Quick recovery there by Monzon. Still thought Briscoe should have went for broke a little more in that situation. He had to know he well behind...

Clinton, Carlos Monzon hailed from Santa Fe ,Argentina but mostly defended his title in Paris, France, Monte Carlo, Monaco, he won his title in Rome, Italy. When he fought Tony Licata in Madison Square Garden on June 30 1975, the taxes were way too high, and usually it's the champions choice what venue he fights at.

I know Richard. But that other fella wrote that Escopeta was a stay at home champion, which he obviously wasn't. I was hoping to illicit a response from him. Obviously didn't happen. I put him on ignore last night anyway. I just hate it when people are so ****ing disingenuous.

I know, he was a remake of someone who was banned last year. I picked up on his name, then I read a post on The Lounge where he was very critical of Muhammad Ali for not serving in Vietnam, the finisher was that he claimed to be an ex U.S Marine. The Soul Surviva name meant that he survived despite the ban last year, just to continue to irritate other posters, which he did, including me. I was ready for him to call Ali, Clay. His old Avatar was that of a thug with a funny little female Bonnet. He is not fit for this site, we have very talented posters, why have someone so disruptive? I feel that this ban was warranted just like the first one was last year. But now maybe we can proceed with progress.
