    The same as Golota did?
Or could he hang around late in to the fight, as he did against Holmes?

I personally think somewhere in the middle, and Cooney gets stopped around 7.

The Cooney who fought Holmes might push Lewis into the later rounds but Lennox had that sleep inducing right hand.
I reckon Lewis could get the job done early

I think Lewis would be capable of getting it done quickly but he might exercise a degree of caution in the early rounds due to Cooney’s obvious power of punch. Early or mid, very much dependent on Lewis’ election, not so much under Gerry’s control.

It wouldn't necessarily be a blowout.

Much would depend upon what tactics Lewis favored, and how he felt that the fight was going for him.

Sometimes Lewis was content to coast, and sometimes he decided that matters needed to be brought to a rapid conclusion.

Either way I doubt that Cooney sees the final bell.

Depends which Lewis shows up. Cautious Lewis, eh, Cooney makes it late, maybe to the bell. Seek and destroy Lewis, it ends quickly.

I'd have put some money on an early KO victory for Lewis, in this one.

It would be nothing short of a miracle, if Cooney lasted longer than 3 rounds, IMO.

Cooney has a real shot of winning this.

Lennox will fight cautious as Conney is a fast starter. That gives Cooney a shot to tag Lewis on his suspect chin.

I think Cooney would win the early rounds only to be stopped around 7 or 8 rounds if Cooney does not get him out of there in the first 3 rounds.

I'll take Cooney though to get Lennox out in the first match though.

Yeah 2 or 3 would pull it up IMO. He'd get a long right hand in there early during the jostling for position and it'd be over shortly thereafter.

Not seeing Cooney beating Lewis at all.
Unless Lennox took him totally lightly, didn't respect his power at all and got cold cocked.

    Hi Buddy.
It has taken a long , long, time for Lewis to be recognised for what he is, that being a HW that would give ( and beat in lots of cases ) any former champ, all the way back to Johnson, a very uncomfortable evening, his journey has not been easy, the " is he, isn't he " british conundrum, huge amount of fans derided him and his achievements during his career, mostly from these shores, sadly !
I see him as a thoughtful intelligent man and apply the same to his fighting, not for him the brash, cocky, uncouth mannerisms of some present day HWs we could think of, he went about his career with an appreciable amount of dignity, the youth could do a lot worse than follow his lead.
Would I put him 3, 4, 5, don't know really, amongst that number somewhere, matters little up against the way he carried himself, and how good he was for our sport, time has softened lots of people's feelings about him, and rightly so, for me he was and remains a credit to boxing.
    stay safe amigo.

Holmes punched harder than sometimes given credit on this board, but by the time of the cooney fight he was fighting a very careful and low energy style. He wasn't trying for the ko and it still came off an accumulation of punishment.

Lewis a much harder puncher I think would stop Gerry earlier than Holmes did.

I also think Gerry has a better chance of the ko upset to Lewis than he did against Holmes but I still think that's like an 8 or 9 to 1 shot and Lewis beats him by stoppage the other 90% of the time

    Mike, totally with you here.
Some don't like Lennox for what ever reason,, but that's fair enough and that's their right.
But myself, I really don't see any but the best beating him.
At his very best, he was everything good about the modern heavyweight s.
The, British /Canadian /Jamaican etc thing, I've never taken much notice of.
For me he was born in the UK and he's a Brit fighter.
    Good talking to you, pal.

Holmes almost finished Cooney in the 2nd round, after dropping him with a right hand. Lewis had a better right hand than Holmes, I feel like once Lewis connects with his right hand he could finish the job early.

Although there is a possibility more like a 1 in 10 chance, that Cooney catches Lewis and also KOs him. Remember Holmes didn't have it all his own way vs Cooney, and had to ship some punishment himself. And if Cooney lands his left hook, Lewis could be in some trouble. Briggs wobbled Lewis with a left hook a few times in their fight, and Holyfield also had some success with his left hook aswell.
