I was ringside for this unfortunately. I was sitting with a trainer who cornered a kid on the prelims, and before the fight, he leaned over and said "this fight scares me." The Kazakh kid has slow feet, average hand speed, mediocre power, no head movement, no angles and he just wades forward but he's tougher than nails and won't stop coming. Morrell is elite and he is levels better everywhere. This dude has zero chance to beat David. But what's scary is David is a sharp puncher, but doesn't have 1-shot KO level power. He'll just carve him up. I don't like this fight at all." He was eerily prophetic.

Sure enough, after 2 rounds it was painfully obvious, there was absolutely no path to a W for Aidos. Morrell was landing flush uppercuts with both hands, check hooks, lead left hands, sharp jabs, hooks to the body with both hands, and Yerbo was waving at air. It was ugly. This is more on the corner and the Dr. than it is on Weeks. That's what Dr.'s are ringside for, to look for neurological distress and cuts. And the corner knows their own fighter way better than Weeks does. They made the decision to keep sending him out, when he clearly had no chance to win. Sad, pathetic corner work. Should Weeks have stopped it earlier...yes he should have. But it shouldn't have fallen on Weeks, Yerbo's corner absolutely should have saved him from himself around 7, 8 or 9. No chance of winning. And how the Dr. at ringside didn't stop the fight earlier was beyond me. There was a fair amount of people ringside asking for this to be stopped by the 8th, 9th,10th. I was yelling at Yerbo's corner. Gut wrenching fight to watch live.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Always my top concern when I attend fights in person.

The doctors are in a tough spot because they have limited tools to use between rounds. Weeks was slow but the corner was the primary culprit. It was obvious he was not going to win so what’s the point? They did not treat him like a human.

Yes that was eerily prophetic. It reminded me of kind of sustained beating Ronald Gavril absorbed in the Benavidez rematch. I started to get concerned for Gavril's welfare by the 4th round in that one and I could see how deep Yerboss was having to dig to hang in there under that sustained assault and he was having to dig deeper and deeper as the rounds progressed.

I remember thinking to myself I hope Morrell eases up on him and carries him to the final bell in that last round because Yerboss had taken a sickening amount of punishment and it was plain to see he was in distress and the cumulative effect of it had taken a big toll on him.

Thanks for the report. That must have been hard.

I'll say it again, if I can tell how bad the guy is F'd up and how little chance he has to win while watching on a computer screen a thousand miles away, people whose full time job and are at ringside should know better. The blinking was the final straw. Who doesn't recall Gerald McClellan doing the same thing against Benn?

I've wandered away from the sport a few times due to similar situations... Benn/McClellan, Ruelas/Garcia both come to mind. I guess I'll see if I have the stomach for it next weekend.

This fight gave me a sickening feeling.
To have a guy literally holding on for dear life and continuing to take ridiculous punishment was just brutal.

What an honourable, valiant, defiant warrior of a man…
Even when he got up from that last savage knockdown, he put his gloves up like he was going to continue.
The man couldn’t stand without help and his spirit still could not be broken.
I am in awe of people like this.

I had that same sickening feeling watching the Jordan Gill fight with the miracle punch.
I was honestly expecting to hear he was in a coma after that fight.
When it looked like he was ok a few days later, I was still wishing he would just retire.
I thought, this kid has been given a second chance and he is going to f**k it up by continuing to fight…
That fight damaged him and I had a feeling Kiko was going to dummy him and wouldn’t be surprised if he was hurt badly by punches that didn’t appear too hard…
I really hope this kid makes the same type of recovery as Gill did…

If any man deserves a second chance, it’s this proud man.

Yeah it was hard to watch and it's crazy no one intervened to save Yerboss from from his own bravery. His warrior spirit was indomitable and even though I wish the ref, his corner or the ringside physician had intervened much sooner it was hard not to be extremely impressed with the heart, toughness, and courage he displayed.

That comeback by Gill was incredible and it was straight out of Rocky movie. But that fight must've taken a lot out of him and it was only ten months before the Kiko fight. They should've taken on a much easier touch than Kiko in his first fight back after the punishment he took against Guerfi

    Me too.

Some of these type fights almost look like set ups. Like someone wants someone to die. Its like when they matched subriel matias with maxim dadashev. If you're going to have a fight like this, they need to put a ref in that will call the fight off if it gets too one sided (which it will)

I saw a post by suiliman saying his life isn't in danger and he will be monitored for 2 weeks, but that could just be covering their asses.

Let's hope this is a sign of good news!

David Morrell Jr - "God is all great.... Thanks be to God, it's better, Aidos, you'll still be in my prayers, and God allows the recovery to be faster while you're in the hospital recovering."

This is when a corner should protect a fighter from himself. Aidos was not going to quit. When he was grabbing for dear life and pawing at his face cause he couldn't see, his corner should have thrown in the towel. He was not going to land that miracle KO and the corner let him take the last few punches that sent him to ER.

You dont play boxing man. Thats why every fighter should be given credit for having the heart and courage to step in the ring and go blow for blow. This is the most dangerous sport and when these type of things happen its a terrible thing. Im just hoping this warrior makes a full recovery.
