Hearn is really taking the **** now. Can he not see that 99.99% of the public are appalled at him and Benn for the way they have gone about the whole situation? Who would want or pay to see Benn fight?
It's a disgrace mate, I'm on the brink of being done with boxing at the min. None of the big fights getting made for ridiculous reasons, Youtubers and fake celebs taking over, Hearn trying to get drug cheats in the ring. Better off just sticking to footy.
The pair of them disgust me. Conor Benn the idiot is paying lawyers to find any loophole they can, to try and get out of this. He knows he's cheated, Eddie knows he's cheated and we know he's cheated yet he's thinks strong arming the board and getting off, will mean people will believe him and his reputation is intact when infact it's in ruins.
Tyson Fury says hi. When does anyone question his reputation as a fighter found guilty of using PEDS?
Regardless of when or where Conor Benn comes back into the boxing ring, you can only encourage people to boycott the events.
I'm not feeling it at the moment either. The shite with Fury fighting Chisora and always looking for an easy payday, Crawford and Spence fannying about, Hearn tying Bivol up from fighting Beterbiev and pushing the Canelo rematch and any one of his other fighters instead, Charlo and loads of others not fighting anyone decent and just waiting for a Canelo payday, any half decent (and sometimes utter crap) fights are now always PPV. Then you have got Hearn trying to strong arm the BBBofC because they had the cheek to stop Benn's fight after 2 failed drugs test
I echo this. People may say Boxing has always had its flaws and controversy, but these last few months have been dreadful. Money men ruining the integrity of a sport all for the quickest cash grab, selling events to middle eastern countries where nobody has any interest in the fights, in soulless arenas. The only interest I seem to have these days is mainly in Hennessey cards, as they're evenly matched and usually great cards from top to bottom.
I first got into boxing as a 16-year-old watching Haye in the big fights over in Germany and from then came the 'British boxing boom' and the Sky Sports era, so I guess I was spoilt early on but the last 2 years have been dreadful. One good headline fight every few months and even then the undercard is dross. I didn’t mind paying PPV every other month from 2015-2019ish when we were getting top quality headline fights with a great undercard.
Loved boxing since the 1978 Ali Spinks rematch, back then it seemed a much more "real" sport. As an earlier poster said, it's been taken over by YouTubers, and daft "exhibition" matches. Benns astonishing improvement in strength and punch power STILL didn't make him the best in the UK, instead he was being cynically moved into a "world" title shot, that he clearly didn't deserve, while avoiding fighters such as Avenesyan, because "he doesn't bring anything to the table". I've never disliked a fighter so much, especially after the disturbing video of him with his girlfriend, him looking like a typical roid rager. After seeing the serial cheater Big Baby Miller looking absolutely shocking in his return post ban, one can only hope that IF Benn returns, he looks as average as he did at the start of his career, and gets put over by a ham and egger, and we can rubber stamp the completion of this total facade.
So when's this famous interview, statement or whatever it is coming out from Conor Hen? Even if he's not allowed to say anything for "legal reasons" he's still hiding away which makes him look guilty. I was reading an interview with Chris Algerri and Van Heeden. When you know something is up, you just know. Chris Algeri “Initial thoughts? Not surprised, not surprised one bit,” he told Jomboy Boxing. “I had heard around the time when I was fighting him that he was not a clean fighter and I like to give fighters the benefit of the doubt. “This is about competition. I don’t want to take away from anyone who steps into that squared circle, it’s the most dangerous thing you can ever do. I respect every fighter who steps into the ring. I do not respect cheaters. “For me to hear this, it hits hard, it hits home. Again, not surprised. Hearing this was not anything that shocked me. It shocked me because he got caught, it didn’t shock me because it’s a reality" The 38-year-old explained why he was happy to go ahead with a fight against Benn after hearing that his opponent could have an unfair and potentially dangerous advantage. “I’ve beaten unclean fighters before. I’d beaten guys who were cheating before, and I’ve always been willing to do it again,” Algieri added. “It didn’t matter to me at the time because I’m in the mindset that I’m going to fight soon and I’m preparing to fight that man. “It is what it is but in hindsight it isn’t the smartest thing because when you’re preparing for a fight your mind is kind of preoccupied.” Algieri also took to social media to talk about his experience of fighting Benn in England which he called ‘scary’ because of how lax – in his opinion – officials were when it came to ensuring everyone was playing by the rules.
“When I fought in Liverpool I was astonished how little official oversight there was fight week and in the locker room. It was scary honestly,” he tweeted. “No one followed me to p*** or watched my hands being wrapped. Def gave me the impression it was very easy to cheat “Certainly not the oversight I am used to fighting over in the States. Especially in NEW YORK where the commission is top notch.” Van Heeden “I have accepted my loss to Conor Benn like a man and never made any excuses. I had peace inside me BUT now I guess I will never know if I truly and fairly lost to the better man or a cheat.”
Still angry at how Benn and Hearn have behaved over this. Not proud to say this because I know very well how dangerous the sport is but if Benn gets off with it and does fight again, I genuinely hope he gets seriously hurt in the ring.
