He kept all his straps. A draw is a successful defence. I felt he won the second too, though.

Slippery slope. As much as i think he won,... do all the fights get challenged now?

Fenech smacked Nelson's a$$ up in the first fight. 9-3 at worst. Disgraceful robbery.

No 8-4 Azumah Nelson. BS Nelso literally murdered him in the rematch.

Ya Nelson won the rematch. But he got slaughtered 9-3 in the first fight. Honestly don’t think Azumah won any of the final 8 rounds

I told you how I scored it and one of the judges scored it exactly like I did.

So Fenech owes the 2% fees from way back then with interest. Good idea!

Ya but you and that judge scored it wrong. Not only that, his scorecard was so famously wrong that the notoriously stubborn WBC formed a special committee to overturn his terrible scorecard 31 years later.

Would love a detailed round by round of those last 8 rounds from you…

So I'm not sure what this means, does this make Fenech an official 4 division world champion or what? Still says the draw on boxrec.

I find this topic so disgustingly disagreeable that I refuse to participate in it any further. It’s like the Trump election deniers.

Except in this case you’re the Trump election denier.

Interesting seeing some of the reactions to this decision by the WBC. There's been an outcry of 'what about this decision, what about that one?' I think they're missing the point. The issue with the original Fenech v Nelson fight is that the decision deprived Fenech of what would have been a unique place in history - the first fighter to win 4 world titles in 4 different weight divisions while remaining undefeated doing so. That went down the toilet with that decision & Fenech was never able to achieve a fourth world title. Not doing so alters his place in history. Most (if not all) of the other bad decisions referred to don't. The fighters on the wrong end of those decisions were able to rebound and achieve what they would have had they not been jobbed. That wasn't the case with Fenech. It's not going to be the case with GGG either which is why I wouldn't have a problem with the decision in his first fight with Canelo being changed from a draw to a GGG win. Doing so does not alter Canelo's place in history. It does alter GGG's & should occur. The result of their second fight was also controversial but you could never change that without detrimentally affecting Canelo's place in history so that should never happen.
