Pacquiao gain a lot with the defeat of Miguel Cotto to Margo. - it further cemented Pacquiao's claim as the no. 1 P4P best boxer in the world - it made Pacquiao as the frontrunner in the DelaHoya sweepstakes Pacquiao should be very thankful to Margo (or to Cotto?).
In a way it makes sense.. but I don't know if it would make sense if pac loses to odlh by KO! You and I are both pac fans but I don't think a bloated pac can win over a malnurished odlh.. i hate to see it pac being ko'd! I would not be surprised either but for some strange reason pac upsets odlh I would like to hear what others would say.. but just the same! we wish pac all the luck if the fight happens!
Pac is used to 147 as his walking weight at fight night. He can't be bloated. But Oscar going down at 147 could result to dehydration and my slow him down at fight. Perfect for Pac to utilize his speed to wear him down and set him for KO.
Surely, boxers often gain weight after the weigh in. In his last fight with diaz, from weigh in of 135lbs to 147(?!) on actual fight! Unless, he does not intend to add weight after the weigh in he will be bloated! If Oscar wieght during the wiegh in is 147lbs. I would not be surprised if he actually weighs from 155 to 160+. With that weight, i don't think pac can hurt odlh no matter what the weight of pac during the fight. Wether it be 147lbs or higher!!! Remember the farther that pac's weight from his natural weight the slower he gets! if he is slow and too heavy. How do you think pac can win over odlh. ODHL is close to being shot or a fraction of his prime does not matter. he has more than enough gas to Win convincingly or KO pac! I'm just talking logically, odlh is simply tooooo big for pac but of course bottom line..like all pac fans! I like pac to win! I just don't know how?!
:good Quality Post, mate. Very reasonable and very objective. I too share the exact same sentiments. I think Pac's limit is the 140lbs weight. Going further up would only endanger him and his career. Of course like you I would also still cheer for Pac when he fights DLH and I would love to be proven wrong by Pac. But I just don't see any way for Pac to beat Oscar.
Pac last fight is his Heaviest. Did he lost his speed??? Your theory was Proven wrong already. All Pac has to do, is just train & practice his game Plan. He don't have to worry about his weight. DLH has to train and has to watch his weight. So he will be in Conditioning dissadvantage aside from his age, speed, stamina disadvantage. Pac can exploit all those. If Steve forbes can Bruise DLH, Pac can hurt DLH. Did you ever Play boxing sparring with any of your teenage cousins you outweigh by 40 lbs?? I did and their Punches hurt coz they coming in with Higher velocity as they are younger & faster. Pac will be outweigh by at most 10-15 lbs at fight night. But Pac will the faster & the busier fighter. Pac will land more & will definitely hurt DLH.
I hope what you just mentioned are ALL accurate when they fight. After all, you are I are both pac fans! I'll just put it this way, logic dictates ODLH will win! I hope you and pac defy logic once more!!!! More power to you PacDBest and PAC!!!
Pac already defy all those Logic as he move up from weight to weight. But one thing always there is speed & Power. DLH can't beat a middleweightweight. DLH was beaten by a smaller & Speedy fighter. Pac is about speed & DLH is in a very deep disadvantage in that department.
No PacDbest... It just isn't done that way. If you fight in your walk around weight, you lose a reasonable amount of speed, no matter who you are. So Pac fighting at 147 would not be as good as the one who fights it his optimum fighting weight, which is the 135 mark. There is a reason why fighters don't jump weights, and you just want to prove your point that Pac would fight ODLH. You don't really care if Pac survives or wins this. It's misguided IMHO.
The difference is that Pac does not need to dehydrate. He does not need to lose weight that much. If he's 150 before training, he only needs to lose 3-5 pounds w/ ease and rehydrate up to 147 which does not weaken him at fight time. Dela Hoya however has to reduce his weight at weigh-in to 147 and rehydrate to a desired weight. This will dehydrate him and weaken him during fight night despite weighing 160 after rehydrating. ODLH could be too big but too weak and slow. It happened to Pac two or three times already when he has difficulty making weight. My point is Pac is fighting at a comfortable weight at 147 where he is faster and stronger and Dela Hoya at 147 at weigh in and rehydrated at 160 in weak and slow condition. The catch weight at 147 is a good leveler. Roach has a plan for Pac to beat Oscar. Pac will employ his speed in the first 6 rounds to tire him. I am convinced Pac as a chance of winning.
I'm Pinoy so if Pacman wins, he's a beast and if DLH wins, I have no respect for him as he picks on people smaller than him. Look at why he does this though. He can't beat people his own size or bigger. He is mediocre at jr middleweight but really bad at middleweight (i.e. Sturm and Hopkins).
Beg to differ. Pac fought Diaz, a former junior welterweight, a walk around weight of 147. Did you find him slow in that fight? Compare that Dela Hoya who's going down at 147 at weigh in. Do you think he will come out stronger or faster in this weight as compared to when he fought Mayweather?
This fight would be a freak show. With the size difference it would be like watching a very butch snow white school one of the seven dwarfs.
Let's say it is a freak show or circus. The thing is whether you like it or not, people will watch it or even pay to watch it. They both have wide fanbase. It's a fight that either don't want to pass up for guess what.... ..... for the money.
